I recently enrolled with American Intercontinental University Online. I was PROMIED by one of their national admissions advisor it would be no problem getting the books in large print because of a have a visual impairment I have.

I recently had major problems with another college and depended on more of what I could hear instead of what I could see.

I never did receive any books in large print no matter what red tape I went through to get them. And was left believing they were coming.

I really missed out on a lot not having what I needed. It was evident all they were after was to sign me up and promise the world and left me hanging. And you bet that's exactly what happens to me, and I wasn't going to let it happen again. I felt I needed more to be successful. So I looked into what AIU had to offer

I had three AIU representatives, contact me in three month. I made it clear to all of them through emails and numerous phone conversations I needed large print books and would not settle for any thing else The first 2 advisors couldn't guarantee me anything. So I gave up
Finally a third AIU advisor called me. This person assured me that getting large print textbooks would not be a problem and stated she worked with other disabled people in the passed and was able to get them anything they needed especially large print textbooks for all the courses at AIU. She totally convinced with out a doubt. So it was all set I was getting what I needed at last and was looking so forwarded to it.

I grew concerned that the large print text books were not going to arrive in time for class.
I emailed there bookstore for AIU Words of Wisdom and received this response quoted ("We do not have books that are in large prints. Who advised that you'll be receiving the large print book?") Needless to say I was shocked I couldn't believe it happen to me again. I called this advisor right away and sure enough she started to pass me around to other people now she tells me things have changed and passed me on to other people. The only thing that s changed is there was no truth in what she told me

Isn't this just like the other college wanting to sign me up and promise the world and left me hanging. I don't want anyone able or disable to every go through what I have

I had a total of three AIU representatives, contact me. I made it clear to all of them through emails and numerous phone conversations that I could not settle for any less than large print books this time. And they were unable to help me

The third person
I grew concerned that the large print text books were not going to arrive in time for class. And emailed there bookstore for AIU and received this response quoted ("We do not have books that are in large prints. Who advised that you'll be receiving the large print book?") I was seriously misled by this person from the start. They never had anything available what so to meet any of my needs. And I know this will happen to others. I need so advise on what actions to take next?

There Is Plenty You Can Do..Glad to Be of Assistance!

Go to the Internal Revenue Service for Criminal complaints. If they find improprieties you will be eligible for a reward! Next go to The U.S. Department of Education and file complaints for each offense according to Title VI. Then there is the Office of Post Secodary Education for your state and report them there as well. Lastly obtain an attorney and sue the daylights out of them.

Bethany College did pretty much the same thing to me and they are also on the Rip Off Report. Good luck and keep reporting them until somebody listens!

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

It is hard to believe someone would do this to a disabled person such as my self. Could anyone please tell me what other actions I can take in order to stop this from happening to other people? Also what other actions I can take?

I hope you have some of your promises is writing

but I doubt that you do. They do not communicate on anything substancial via the email as they don't want to give you documentation of their phoney promises.

Have you "entered a classroom" yet? If you have not begun classes and have been emailing everyone and their dog about this situation, you should be fine...

You have been victimized with bait and switch tactics. You have been victimized as a disabled person. That is against the law. Maintain this position. Only accept written communication. Best wishes.
