BUYER BEWARE!!!  I booked a flight on Allegiant for July 14, returning on July 22, 2015. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to cancel my trip, which included cancelling an appointment with a surgeon in order to schedule needed surgery.

Due to Allegiant's limited time in which to contact them, I spent 2 days attempting to reach them, both by phone and by email. After waiting nearly an hour on the phone, I finally reached a CSR and told him I needed to cancel my reservation. By the time he finished, he had informed me that cancelling the flight would cost me more than the flight itself! I have only flown once since 9/11 and that was in May, 2015. The airlines need to make certain that their information/instructions are clear to their customers and are included with the reservation information to preview before making the final purchase. I was told I should have purchased the "Flex Plan" (for additional monies) to avoid this situation.

While my credit card representative advised me where to find the "fine print" regarding Allegiant's cancellation policy, it was already too late. I had cancelled two doctors' appointments which I would not be able to restore. Had I been able to reah Allegiant in a timely manner and/or had this information provided clearly in the documentation I received from Allegiant, I would not have cancelled those appointments.

The information provided in their basic information to the customers only states that a "FEE" will be charged for a cancellation made within 7 days of the flight. It does not specify how much the "FEE" is. You have to search for that. This should be written plainly where the customer can see it BEFORE they make their purchase. It's called "Truth in Advertising".

The dealings I've had with Allegiant CSRs have been as though they think it's funny when someone makes a mistake and they dare you to try to do anything about it. Needless to say, this will not be the only complaint I file about this company. They make it very difficult to contact them, so the customer is pretty much at a loss to do anything. They have no interest in accommodating their customers. They are only after the money.

I was not able to dispute the charge on my charge card as, I was told, they could not "supercede" the airline's terms, even though they are "hidden" and not plainly shown on the reservation.

I encourage any and all airline customers to contact their representatives in Congress, their Attorneys General in their states, and anyone else that might stand up for the consumers against the inflated "Fees" and other charges by the airlines who are makng billions of dollars in profit at the expense of their customers.
