I am the victim of relentless phone calls from Allied Interstate Collection! To say that these people are downright rude would be an understatement!
They have been calling my home for over a month at least four times a day insisting that I am someone that owes them money. They have called me a liar, stupid and looser, as well as other names. Trying to maintain my composure, I explain that they have the wrong person insisting that they stop calling my home however; my words are apparently, falling on deaf ears. During my last conversation just a little while ago, I informed the woman that they were in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act. She indicated that she was not concerned.
I would think that if they were that desperate to collect their money it would benefit them to first of all, get the right person; and, second, treat that person with some dignity regardless of the circumstances. My heart goes out to those who actually owe money to these horrible people. Nobody deserves to be degraded in such the manner as I have and I'm not even the person they are looking for!
I am desperate for these phone calls to seize!!!

"T", a very simple solution here.

First of all, that is why you never speak to any collector on the phone. It will get you nowhere. They are generally crackheads and morons that have no common sense at all. They just need that next rock.

All you need to do is send a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as per the provisions of the FDCPA. Send this by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy of it for your records. This procedure is VERY important as it proves exactly what you sent.

Now, when they violate your LEGAL REQUEST, you sue them for up to $1000 in punitive damages plus costs, as per the provisions of the FDCPA.

It makes no difference as to whether the debt is yours or not. The law applies to the practices of third party debt collectors.

Get yourself a new, and unlisted, telephone number!

An unlisted telephone number used to cost $0.50 a month but now AT&T gouges its customers for $5.50 a month.

But your problem should stop with a new phone number. Keep it unlisted for at least 6 months, and maybe for 12 months.

Step One:

Send Allied a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating:

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting:

- Written validation of this alleged debt and that said alleged debt is within the statute of limitations
- Cease all verbal communications with me about this alleged debt.

Step Two:

Next time they call, read the following statement:

Pursuant to Ohio state law, this is to inform you that this phone call is being recorded. If you do not consent to being recorded, you need to terminate this call. Pursuant to Ohio state law, continuation of this phone call after officially being informed that it is being recorded implies consent to be recorded. This recording will be used to pursue Fair Debt Collection Practice Act violations in a court of law.
