We have been dealing with Alltel for over 6 years. We have 6 phones using Alltel and recently went to upgrade one. We upgraded a phone without problem and then the salesman came over and said he could help us out with a new contract that would save us money. We told him we were not unhappy with our present contract and what the cost to upgrade would be. He said NOTHING. It would give us an extra 100 min and free text. We do not use this but very infrequently but decided if it was not going to cost us extra to change to the new plan we would do it. Maybe we would enjoy texting but like I say..we went in for a new phone nothing more.

We recieve a bill later with nearly 200 dollars on additional charnges on it and this was not the new phone it was the plan. None of this disclosed to us at the time of the un needed upgrade in a plan we were happy with. We called the call center and they listened to it all...said the employee did not do his job and they would help the little they could. They offered us 30 bucks and that is all they could do but told us to goto the store and talk to this salesman.

We go to the store and at first he tried to tell us nothing is free. He was gonna try and shine us on but then later said that Alltel goofed up and it was a common mistake that when upgrading plans on present customers they have to manually take the charges off now what was once done automatically. Ok, he said he would take care of it and offered 120 that he could remove from the bill and told us there was no need to hang around and talk to his manager. We should of talked to the manager then but believed him and left thinking everything fixed.

A month later we get a call saying we are behind on our bill and find that nothing was removed. Another trip to the store and this time straight to the manager who bascially just listened and said we are going to have to pay this. He said he would repremend the employee and that was all that was said. He blew it off as it is not his money so this whole time we were lied to and ripped off and we have to eat this extra costs for crap we did not want.

All we want is either this bill fixed as it was promised it would be or we will take the matters further as I do not enjoy being lied to and abused as a good customer of yours for so long. The employee's involved where the saleman involved was Shaw the salesman and Matt the manager.

Resolution to this mess:

I sent this information to Alltel corporate via email ..everything you read here. I received an email today after one day from an Alltel online rep and she took care of it today without any further fighting. She credited the $128.00 back to our account and I have to admit I expected no resolution as so far we had no helpful employees at all.

Because they finally did take care of the mess I have to say at least I will stay a customer but I will never upgrade a contract unless it comes from me. I will never buy anything extra from any rep and I will never believe anything any rep anywhere tells me about what is good for me. They are pushing crap no one needs. I learned a tough no one and stick to your guns.

The amount total to be refunded was $158.00 but the call center had refunded us $30.00. The saleman named Shaw said he could get the rest $128.00 taken care of as Alltel changed how it bills now and when an old customer upgrades or changes a plan it used to automatically credit off these charges but now he has to do it manually. Told us to not worry and we do not have to check on it. My fault for trusting his word and because up to this point I have been fine with Alltel. I should of just went in and bought the phone and all would of been good.

As they seem to not care at all about lying to us and screwing us hard I will do whatever it takes to let everyone know what kind of company they are and to avoid them at all cost. No wonder these companies try to lock you in with bogus early termination fees as they can not hold on to you by giving good service.

I am sure down the road someone else will own them. They deserve the bad reputation they get.
