We refinanced our mortgage with Alpine Mortgage company in October 2002. They said the loan would close in 30 days. It took 60. At closing we discovered the loan type, the loan amount & the interest rate was not what we were told we would be getting. The fees also were not the same as we were told they would be. We never received any loan documents or disclosures until the day we closed.

The loan officer told us not to pay our property taxes (due November 1st) or December's mortgage payment. We felt we had no choice but to sign the loan papers, or we had to come up with $2500.00. The loan officer also put us in a situation where we could lose our house (which I can't mention the circumstances or details for fear the lender will find out somehow.) Alpine also paid Metro Real Estate & Appraisals
$145.00 from the $395.00 check I wrote to Emergency Appraisals.

Metro Real Estate & Appraisals is owned by Vance Luedtke who is also the owner of Alpine & they did not disclose Metro would be involved with the appraisal process.

RESPA violaitions

Gretchen,

Sorry to hear about your experience with Alpine. Your description of the problems you experienced leads me to believe that the loan officer is in violation of RESPA and ECOA requirements.

If you did NOT receive your Good Faith Estimate and Truth-In-Lending statements WITHIN 3 days of the signing of your INITIAL application that is a big NO-NO as well.

You should contact your state's AG or even better HUD to file a complaint agains this broker and loan officer.
Good luck!
