Back in November my wife and I went to American Freight on Morse Road and put a deposit down on a new bedroom set, new matteress set, and a new sectional. When we first went there, the salesmen was actually the district manager who handed us off to the store manager when it was time to write up the sale. At the time of sale, we were told that we could make any changes we would like prior to final payment, so two weeks later we decided to change the sectional with the store manager.

On Friday, February 13, 2009, I went over to the store and made the final payment at which point the Manager, Jeremy asked if he could set up delivery for the next day. I advised him that I couldn't do the next day as I had to get rid of my old furniture, so we agreed on Monday. Sunday afternoon I donated my living room and bedroom furniture to make room for the new ones. On Monday, February 16, 2009, I stayed home from work awaiting the furniture. I called the store at 12PM to get a rough estimate as to when they were coming and was told that the drivers were loading the truck and that they would call me. The hours went by and still no call, so I called again and was told exactly the same thing again. Once again the hours went by and I called yet again, by this time it's 8:30PM. I was told they were loading for their final run and that the driver will call me shortly. As it turned out, no call, no furniture, and the store was closed for the night. The next day my wife stayed home from work in anticipation of the furniture and when I got off at 3:30PM from work and found out the furniture still had not been delivered, I called the store 4 different times and asked for Jeremy and was told that he was with a customer. I decided to drive to the store and when I got there, I called from the parking lot and asked for Jeremy who was standing behind the counter talking to the other salesmen behind the counter and was told again that he was with a customer. So I walked in to his suprise and he pretended not to know what was going on and blamed his assistant manager and said that his assistant was being demoted for these exact kind of things...how unprofessional to discuss this with customers.

Anyway, I stayed there until I got an answer about my delivery and was promised that it would be delivered that night with the exception of our sectional becuase the one they had was damaged. I went home and the delivery guys showed up at 10:45PM, keep in mind that I'm usually in bed by 9-9:30 as I go to work at 6AM and have children. They delivered everything except the headboard, boxsprings, and sectional. I knew about the sectional, but the box spring and headboard? At this point I was just happy that my pregnant wife didn't have to sleep on the floor, but I called the next day only to get blown off again, so I called corporate and spoke with Susan who assured me that she would take care of it. Jeremy called me shortly afterwards and apologetic and assured me that he would take care of me.

Two week goes by and still no sectional, so I called once again and Jeremy tells me that he thinks they're not going to carry that sectional anymore and asked if we could come in and select something else, so my wife and I go there yet again and she settled for sofa/love seat set. I had a bad feeling about this, so I slipped my business card between the cushions and when it was delivered the next day, not only was it the floor model, but the stain resistance was never sprayed on and it was damaged on the bottom (broken piece of wood). I called corporate again on March 3, 2009 and spoke to Susan yet again about the new living room set, which she never addressed, and the box springs. She advised me that the box springs would be another ten days and when I said that I wish I had known this so I wouldn't have donated my furniture, she responded, "that's not our problem".

Well, their problem is that they're a scam company and I will do everything within my legal right to make sure that they suffer financially. I will tell everyone I know about them and will tell potential customers not to do business with them. I will also be filing a complaint with the better business bureau, calling the news (Channel 10 On Your Side) and exploring any and all legal avenues. American Freight cuased me and my wife to lose two days pay, and a lot of agrivation and frustrastion and I get, "that's not our problem"?
