American Medical Response has continued to charge me for the difference of a service from April 1, 2016 from American Medical Response through Bay Area Credit, LLC. We are now in March of 2018. I thought after my medical insurance (Cigna) had been submitted to American Medical Response, that I would no longer have that on my shoulders. However, this has not been the case.As of March 23, 2018, I am still receiving billing from Bay Area Credit Service, LLC and they are falsely attempting to collect on the difference on this account by claiming that they were not within the network at the time of service. After contacting my medical insurance company, they have done a thorough investigation on this claim, and found that they were, in fact, in-network at the time this claim was submitted. Even so, they have refused abide by the contract from that point, and I continue to get billing statements. It has also resulted in a negative impact on my credit report. Bay Area Credit Service, LLC has also refused to look at the EOB regarding this account to remedy the situation until American Medical Response gives the "OK," and it is still negatively influencing my credit report.

Cigna Claims

Hi Dawn,

You actually can still get your EOBs. You don't need the billing dates. As long as you were covered under Cigna at the time of service and you know, at least the dates, of service, not (billing) they can get that information for you. I no longer have Cigna either, but I have worked with them diligently in getting this matter resolved.

I am in a very similar situation, though mine is years old. I had Cigna, I took an ambulance through American Medical Reaponse, and now my credit is servely damaged by Bay Area credit services. However you can fix yours in a way I can’t! Write a letter to Bay Area Credit, saying that you are disputing ownership of the debt, include that you’re requesting that they validate the debt, because you have proof of an EOB and that the debt is DEFINITELY not yours. Tell them as allowed by the law that they have 30 days to respond with proof, and that you will be taking action to ensure this is resolved. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. Make sure you keep several copy’s of the letter.

They have good example templates online, just google "Medical Debt Dispute Letter Example” Or "Medical Debt Validation Letter” If they don’t respond within 30 days, by law it has to be removed from your credit report. If they do respond(any answer would be wrong anyways) mail out the copy’s of the orginal letter, the EOB, and the response to the 3 major Credit Bureaus. Some of them have formal dispute forms that need to be included, and experian lets you do this all online, but that’s how you can get it resolved and removed. You have PROOF that you don’t owe money. I unfortunately can’t get my EOB. I’m not with Cigna any longer and I don’t even have the dates because I never got any bills You can definitely get this resolved. Dispute the debt in writing, with Bay Area Credit Services, after 30 days if that doesn’t work(either no response or bad response) dispute ownership with the bureaus. Best of luck! These two companies are clearly shady and it’s so rough. I’m young, and I got screwed by them.
