American Medical Response Overcharge for Ambulance Service Ohio Akron

December 19, 2017 I called 911 for an Ambulance to rush me to Baylor Hospital 40 miles away.  I had a femoral Artery occlusion which has happened to me 3 times in the past.  I knew it was an emergency and I needed to get there quickly.  That's the reason I called the Ambulance Service.  My daughter was home with me at the time and could have driven but it was vital I get there in a hurry. 

When the two men arrived first they told my daughter she would have to calm down or she could not go with us. I can understand this if she was hysterical but she was just worried and crying.  They put me in the ambulance and started toward the hospital.  the whole trip we drove the speed limit with no lights flashing AND they stopped at the red lights in town. 

I was furious but in too much pain to argue.  A few weeks later I recieve their bill.  1894.00 dollars for essentially a taxi ride.  Of course the bill stated they did not file with my insurance.  Finally a few months later my insurance paid 700 dollars for the trip.  Now AMR is after me to pay the balance of 1128.10.  I spoke to them numerous times and even filed a compaint with them.  Of course they came back saying the complaint was unwarranted. 

I mentioned numerous times through phone calls and email that I was willing to negotiate and pay something but in no way am I paying what they want.  this is not the first ride to the hospital in an ambulance for me.  As I stated in the beginning this same problem has happened many times However, this is the first time I was charged this amount for what I felt should have been an emergency was not treated as such. They are not willing to negotiate anything and I'm sure they will send it to collections.  But - I AM NOT PAYING WHAT I FEEL IS AN UNFAIR BILL !!!!!
