This is note to anyone who is thinking of choosing APEX to monitor their home. I switched from ADT to Apex on May 25, 2008. I was a customer of ADT for 3 years with excellent service. The saleman who came to my house 3 times assured me that I would be getting the same coverage as I was with ADT but only upgraded with a much better and for dollars cheaper. Well you get what you pay for and did I pay. 2 months after signing a contract with APEX my house was buglarized. The theives had simply disconnected my phone line. While with ADT, if there was ever a time that the phone line was disrupted I would get a call on my cell asking if things were okay. My cell was the second contact number listed as the home number was first and they could not make contact via the home phone. Again, I was assured by the very persuasive salesman that my services would be the same....not!! APEX does not have the capibility to receive a disconnect signal therefore when a buglar disconnects you phone line you are now a sitting duck for them. This does not constitute the definition of a security system. Simply put if there is a disconnect in the phone line a signal should be sent to the monitoring center alerting them that the premises is armed but no phone signal is coming through. In my own personal opnion I think this is part of their marketing strategy to get you to purchase extra services and equipment. They contend that the only way they can offer enhanced protection is I purchase the cellular monotiring system for an additional $185 plus $5 monthly. they were supposed to install the fire alarm as well but have yet to come out so now I am sitting duck for a fire. During the course of my home invasion the robber tried to rip the alarm box off the wall. When I reported this to the technical support rep he told me it would cost $75 per hour to have it replaced because my contract does not cover repairs due to buglary. I was like what???!!! This company is more than a rip off they are dangerous and someone will lose their life relying on them to secure them in their home. There has to be a way to stop the practices of this horrible company.
