Ashton Woods Homes ripoff Make sure everything is in order before closing - Warranty? What Warranty? Peachtree City Georgia

Just want to let potential home owners know about Aston Woods Home in Peachtree City:

Keeping this short and sweet. When we closed on our house, we were told that our lawn was under warranty for the first year. All we had to do was water it and if anything needed done just ask.

Yeah right! A month after closing, we had our first warranty meeting. The condition of the lawn had been deteriorating and had started to get infested with weeds. The warranty guy (Sean Duncan) was notified. He had some guys come out and pull some weeds and said they fertilized, but I'm not 100% sure about that. As you guessed, a week later the weeds were back and even thicker. The builder and project managers were notified then. They both mentioned that there were issues in the neighborhood with the batch of sod that was laid in our yard. They both said they would look further into it.

A month later and a few more calls to Sean, nothing was done. But my neighbor got his sod replaced.. I wonder what he did to get such a response - maybe because he works for the Department of Justice.

Later Larry Champ - the area manager - was contacted. Finally after a couple of weeks of ignoring my emails and phone messages, he agreed to come out and "take a look". When he showed up with Sean and the supervisor from Twin Oaks Landscape Services, they finally agreed they would take some pictures and see what the president of the company would say.. (Obviously, not a response I expected)

We all know what the problem was - no pre-emergent was applied before the sod was laid and no post-emergent applied afterwards.

Three other (independent) companies look at the issue and they all agreed that pre-emergent was not used. Thus an infestation of weeds. (I wish you could see the pictures)

There's alot more to the story, but I just can't get it all into words right now.

I personally feel that Ashton Woods and Twin Oaks should repair the lawn that never developed in the first place.

If anyone has any further suggestions to help stop the bullying of builders please let me know.
