Asset Acceptance LLC ASSET RIP OFF!!! Warren Minnesota
*Consumer Comment: "Becca" the collector strikes again and proves her ignorance!!
*Consumer Suggestion: Honestly do this!!
I've had a "past due amount" of $157 and paid $30 of it. It was a phone bill from 6 years ago. They've recently contacted me ON A DAILY BASIS about this 'problem' and continue to leave messages on my cell. It's not on my credit report, and SBC has told me that it has been closed. HELP!!!

Becca,
The SOL in OH is 15 years. They can sue and get the full amount, plus costs. They would have no reason to take a deal.
Now, for the OP, it makes no difference if the item is still on your credit report or not. The SOL for bad credit reporting is NOT the same as the SOL for collections.
You screwed up by making a payment, and by doing so, you affirmed the debt.
NEVER pay a third party debt collector.
NEVER even speak to a third party debt collector!
ALWAYS demand validation as per the FDCPA rules.
Most of the time they cannot validate, so at that point all collections activities must cease until it is provided.
That is how it works in the real world.
