Asset Acceptance Placed fraudulent charge on my credit report Warren Michigan

Asset Acceptance during the last week has placed collection items on my credit report for some WINDSTREAM COMMUNICATIONS. Not only have I never heard of them, I don't even think there IS one in louisiana. On top of that they placed it as dated 4/1/2007. I neither opened an account with THEM OR WINDSTREAM.

I have filed a complaint with the ftc, and asked for the item to be removed on both credit reports.

I would not be so irritated if I had at least heard of the company. RJM aquisitions tried to pull that crap on me for an account so far out of the SOL that my grandmother could have started the account.

Why do the credit reporting agencies allow companies such as AAC, that have been fined in the past report at all?

And why are there NO checks in place to verify that the account is not some obvious fraud such as this one?

Basic point, is AAC is now not just filing bad debts... They are filing fraudulent ones as well.
