May 31, 2008 Authorized Movers arrived 12 hours late, at 3:30 AM to pick up our shipment. Today, 6 weeks later, our shipment has yet to arrive.
Authorized Movers uses sub-contractors, apparently anybody who has a truck. Our driver was a Russian-speaking man with limited English. He used a personal cell phone to contact us.
When he arrived in our town to deliver, he made one phone call to deliver. Got no answer and went home to NYC, with ours and two other's shipments.
(We were told it would take 2-3 days to arrive. He arrived here in 12 hours.)

Two weeks later, he was fired and "abandoned" the three shipments in a warehouse in NJ, according to Authorized Movers. Everything from his truck was moved to Miami, the movers headquarters, to be sorted out, we are told.
After many, many phone calls, we were given a "personal representative" to handle our case. We were told to contact only him. He never answers his extension, we are only given voicemail. He has responded to only one of several messages left. He said we will be given a delivery date "today". So far we have received no delivery date. Two weeks since his "today" comment.

Here is the biggest worry, for anyone reading this. Your goods will likely be worth several times the cost of moving them. Lawyers tell us, that may be all we get.

Your story sounds almost identical to mine. My items were also placed in storage in New Jersey. I was told last week that my items would be here this week. Yesterday, I was told that they located my items, which they told me several weeks ago, and that they would be loaded onto a truck and I would have them next week. They keep telling me that I'm not the only person this has happened to, but I tell them that's not my problem. My problem is that I haven't received my property.

I don't have a problem with them sub-contracting people out if they do their job. I guess the man that picked up our stuff got deported back to Russia, if you can believe what anyone from the company tells you.

According to the Department of Transportation, if you do not have a delivery date, they have 30 business days to deliver your items from date of pickup. Mine is coming up tomorrow, so your's should be Monday or Tuesday.

If I don't receive my property soon, I will be filing a lawsuit against them. I'm not going to settle with only receiving the amount it cost to deliver the items. They breached the contract when they stopped communicating and put our property in storage without notifying us.

Hopefully, we'll both get this worked out and receive our property soon. It sounds like we were two of three whose items got put in storage and then lost. Update this to let me know if you hear anything and I'll do the same. I'm supposed to receive a call with a phone number of the driver by tomorrow.
