We bought a 2006 Honda Accord at Auto City on Valentine's Day. We only resorted to Auto City because my fiance hadn't had enough on the job time to get a car through a lender and had a thin credit history. We checked the car over pretty good, wasn't perfect but car was in great conditon and ran perfect. So we thought...the week we bought the car things started falling apart.

First, driverside seat belt was apparently stripped from the side of the car and someone had just taken a hammer and beat it in real good. After pulling it and pulling it over a couple days to buckle up, it finally came out. Second the carpet in the passenger side was unattached to the floorboard. Instead of fixing it they just glued it enough so it would stay for awhile. My biggest problem is that 60 days after my air compressor goes out.

Went down and talked to the manager on 4/26/12, told him I knew that it was the compressor, he (quote) did me a favor and had service look at it just to tell me the same thing. He says It's the compressor.. Duh! Wanting to charge me 325 for a junkyard compressor or 625 for a new one with no guarantee.

Which is the same estimate a local, trusted AC mecanhic told me, but manager said I was getting 50% off labor and parts at their cost. He was lying yet again. They are a rip off. They also told me they'd fix the seatbelt when the diagnosed the AC problem but they didn't. The car had a salvage title, and they were upfront and honest, even showed pictures of the damage, so I thought they would be trustworthy. I've also had payment issues with them. I don't trust them and I wish I had went with my gut feeling. I am now stuck with this 400/month car payment for 24 months and my air is not working. Honda eX model so no back windows and my poor 2 yo daughter has to almost sweat to death if I have errands to run and I have to take her with me and it's really hot out.

I gave this place almost 4000 dollars since February, the manager is nothing short of a POS and please do not shop here, go elsewhere if possible. You may get a great car but if you don't they will do nothing to help you! They take advantage of people who they know doesn't really have any other choice. Hadn't visited them since Feb and pretty much all of the same cars were there, they aren't selling many cars for a reason. I had seen a few bad reviews and I ignored them, there is definitely truth to them. Auto City Sucks!

PS: Their free 90 day warranty is bull, the price is 100 dollars and it's added to your contract, my finace was filling out the paperwork and I was trying to keep my daughter busy, if I had of caught it I would've said something, your paying for it and the contract explains additional coverage can include all AC related issues but we were never offered that because they didn't want us to now we were paying for it.

A few days after we bought the car the light for the oil change came up showing 30% oil life left, they didn't even change the oil when they bought it, or change the windshield wipers (2006 honda originals) had to also ask them to put some gas in so we could get the car home, I think he put in 5 dollars to get us back to Kannapolis, we had to fill up as soon as we were in Concord. I have really considered telling him to come and get this piece of junk, It's pretty safe to say that I know things are going to keep falling apart on this car, but the time it's paid off, it won't be worth much of anything.

Yes, Salvage Title

AUTHOR: dbaxter3 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 27, 2012

Yes, the car does have a salvage title, we have bought cars before with salvage title, and they never gave us any problem. A car can be totaled out here for less than 3000 in damage, the car wasn't in any front impact crash, side impact and the airbags deployed. DMV records shows salvage title because of airbag deployment. The person who had it before us just decided they wanted to total it out. More than likely just to be rid of the payment and get a new one. We also didn't pay book value for the car, the car was of course at an appropriate price point, for the salvage title. We also planned on paying the car off very early.

Buying a used car at any time is risky, I've even had family members who have bought brand new cars straight off the lot and have been nothing but trouble. Unfortuneatly, we were not able to go to a brand new car dealership and get something with a great warranty. I'm also very well aware what a repossession is and how it could affect me. I don't plan to take it back for that reason. Does it make me want to? Yes! the point is that anything can happen to any car (new, used, salvaged) it's about what the dealership does to help you out and make it right. This dealership doesn't take care of their customers, and are quite disrespectful. (The manager anyway) I want people to know that.

Sad thing is engine, transmission and etc looks and sounds great, well except the compressor..I had a family member who is a mechanic look over the car, everything was great, I have yet to find anyone though that can tell me when the air compressor is going to go out. Other problems I have are inside the car and could have been easy fixes for the dealership but they chose not to fix it.

I also mentioned they had optional coverage for the AC system and I mention that because I gladly would have purchased it. My mother bought a minivan from a well respected dealer back in February of 2010, June 2010 her air compressor went out and the treated her dirty as well. The car she chose did not have a salvage title, but same outcome. Like I said before it's how the dealership handles it. A reflection of their customer service to their customers and I want people to be warned about AutoCity, car problems aside they are liars and do not keep their promises, or their word.

I do not mind explaining to you or anyone else about my experience, or why I chose the car that I did, however I have lots of things going on in my personal life, and I am still dealing with my insurance company from where someone plowed into the side of it, and caused almost 2000 in bodywork. So as much as I appreciated your input, I don't need a be ridiculed right now.

Salvage Title?

You bought a car with a Salvage Title and your biggest complaint was that the AC compressor went out after 60 days.  Seriously what in the world did you expect?  If there is any RipOff you let them do it to you.

It's pretty safe to say that I know things are going to keep falling apart on this car, but the time it's paid off, it won't be worth much of anything.

- I have some news for you.  You are probably right about things are going to continue to fall apart.  But with a Salvage Title it isn't worth anything now.  However, if you decide to have them come and get it that will go as a Repossession.  If you thought it was tough to get a car now, just wait until you try to get one with a Repossession on your credit.  Also, they still may be able to come after you for the balance of the loan.
