E-Z Rent-A-Car ripoff Orlando Florida

My wife and I rented a vehicle from the Dallas/Ft.Worth Airport E-Z Rent-A-Car agency on 8-16-06. We returned the vehicle on 8-21-06 early in the morning because we had an early flight. There was no one at the return ramp, so we parked the vehicle there and went inside to the rental desk to speak to the agent on duty. We asked her if she needed to do an inspection or if we needed to sign anything. She told us no and that we were free to go. We have witnesses to state that there was no damage to the vehicle when we returned it.

After we returned home we received a letter in the mail from E-Z Rent A Car Risk Management Services in Orlando, Florida. It stated that we were responsible for the damage to the vehicle while it was in our care and they submitted an invoice in the amount of $1,085.38. They included pictures of the car with a huge dent on the back bumper. We immediately called the company and told them that we were not responsible for any damage to that vehicle. We returned the vehicle in perfect condition and have witnesses to that fact.

We suspect that the company has damaged vehicles that are duplicates of the cars that are rented. They obviously change the license plates to make it appear that it is the same vehicle.

We faxed a rebuttal letter to the company and have warned them that if we hear another word from them we will have our attorney contact them. We also informed them that we will be reporting this scam to the proper authorities including the Florida Attorney General's Office and Better Business Bureau.
