Avis Rent A Car An employee of Avis asked me and son if we wanted insurance on the car i rented, we both said no that it was to much. The employee said okay. My son turned the car back in on June 4, 2007, the employee told my son that we owned $537.00 for insurance. My son was very upset. They took this money out of my banking account without me knowing. No one is returning my calls, since 6-4-2007. Ripoff Atlanta Georgia

I rented a car from Avis on 5-27-2007. My son and I were asked if we wanted insurance we said no, it was to much. The employee tried to overcharge us by saying it was $339.00 to rent a car. My son got on his cellphone and called Avis representative and told him it should only be $183.99 to rent. We kept the car until 6-4-2007. When it was turned in at Atlanta airport my son was told we owe for insurance. He tried to explain that we had not purchase insurance he was very upset. I called AVIS on 6-6-2007 to try and get this matter resolved spoke with two employees, one was a supervisor. Spoke with her explained what had happened. She told me to fax my contract and she would look into it that was on, gave her my home number I have not heard from her yet. I keep calling there is no answer and still not returning my calls. Avis took oyt $537.97 out of my banking account, the only money that was suppose to be taken out was the money for the rental of the car. This is my hard earn money I work for and I'm single parent. Iwould like to talk to an Avis representative that is willing to listen and find out what is going on. If this is how Avis is going to run there company by not talking to there customer who are very upset and unhappy, I personally not rent from them again. What the young man did at Atlanta Airport Avis was very dishonest.

Sadly this does happen...not at every AVIS, but it does happen, that person who rented you that car makes a good commision off of that coverage. Sadly there are alot of employees who take advantage of this system. You have no idea how many times they get away with putting an extra $20-500.00 on a contract. Two sugestions from someone who has been in the rental car business for a very long time.. 1. READ YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING IT. IT IS CRAZY HOW MANY PEOPLE JUST SIGN SIGN SIGN. There is not much you can do if you signed off on these coverages. 2. Go above the local managers head...that manager is payed off that employees sales, so it comes out of that managers paycheck if they give you a refund...I see it everyday Branch managers who turn their heads becuase they are lazy or just want to profit in the sucess of their cheating employee. PLEASE DONT GIVE UP just keep complaining..you dont want this to happen to anyone else do you?
With the above said, I have insider info from many car rental companies and Avis is one of the best...and that coverage you turned down saves many people from getting into a whole lot of debt. You would not belive how expensive it is to crash a rental car! Avis and Hertz will not charge you for little scratches and dings...they are huge companies and understand most of this happens in their own parking lots. If you want service go with Enterprise...all employees here are paid off of a "customer service goal" and you can really tell from the beginning of your rental to the end. Avis and Hertz are very fast and efficent if your looking to get in and out of an airport quickly go for these guys. all and all I am sorry about your experience, and good luck next time.
