I have been so careful not to allow my account to get so low that I am in danger of overdrafts. sence my husband retired every nickle counts. However it seems although when you deposit money, or check I was told that one hundred dollars is automaticly freed for immediate use. Don't believe them. Also they take the largest amount of money and deduct it from your accoun before posting your credit, even if you put the money in the bank before you go shopping. causing everything to go negitave.

I know that there is a banking commission you can enter formal complaints, and if anyone has that address, either physical or e-mail I,d really appreaciate it.

thanks

State Banking Commissions do not have jurisdiction over N.A. banks, and they will not help you. Contact the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency!

AUTHOR: Joseph - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 23, 2004

Instead of wasting your time with your state's banking commission (which have no jurisdiction over "National Association" banks and will not help you), contact the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which is a division of the United States Department of the Treasury. The O.C.C. has jurisdiction over "National Association" banks, and will investigate violations of Federal Banking Laws.

Go to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's website for more information
http://www.occ.gov/customer.htm

OR

call the O.C.C. Customer Assistance Group at:

1-800-613-6743
------------------------------
***What Is a National Bank?***
A national bank is a financial institution chartered by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. National banks can usually be identified because they have the words "national" or "national association" in their titles or the letters N.A. or NT&SA following their titles. National banks represent about 28 percent of all insured commercial banks in the United States, holding 57 percent of the total assets of the banking system.

Where to Find State Office for Banking problems

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 29, 2004

go to the Virginia State home page and there will be a link for the State Banking Commission. File your complaint there and it will fall on deaf ears. Better yet, do as I did and change your accounts to Chartway Federal Credit Union, as Retired Military you can join, fee's are low and they are honest and friendly to deal with. Same as you, Ret Military, my banking fees have been reduced 10 fold. Internet banking is free also. Great bank to deal with.
