Back in June 2014 Barbara Seif reached out to me advertising herself as a networking service under the company name Phoenix Network.  She said that she works with alternative health and allied professionals in the area of Northern New Jersey and New York.  The services she advertised to me were networking events that she puts together with the professionals that work with her, allowing them all to meet and network together, and then expo events to the public where we could advertise ourselves at a booth/table.

So I sign up with her and pay for these services.  She specifically sells me on a "limited availability life-time slot" which had just opened up because one of her life-time members has been dealing with serious health issues.  Later I found on this very Ripoff Report site a complaint about Barbara Seif who was told this exact same story about the special "life-time slot" that opened up.

She shows me the schedule of networking events coming up, so after I'm all signed up I just have to wait a few weeks for the next event to roll around.  Once it comes time for this first scheduled networking event, Barbara calls to let me know it's been cancelled and will reschedule in a few weeks.  Fine, no problem, I wait for the next event.  Once again, as this rescheduled event gets closer, I get a call that it's been postponed.  This proceeds to happen one after the next, at least 5 more times.  Sometimes she cancels the very day that the event is supposed to happen!

At this point I'm quite skeptical that I'm being taken for a ride, and I have a conversation with Barbara about the constant cancellations and postponements of meetings.  She swears up and down that it won't happen again, and proceeds to give me a pile of flimsy excuses.  So I give her one more chance and wait for the next networking event, which is "shockingly" postponed.   This time I'm told that she had a car accident, stood in the rain, and came down with a terrible flu.  Given her history of cancellations and flimsy excuses, this is difficult to swallow.  To make it even worse, looking back at previous complaints made against Barbara for similar problems, it seems they were also caused by traumatic car accidents.  To top it off, when I reach out to the meeting space that she rents for these events and inquire as to the reason of the cancellation, the vendor tells me that when Barbara doesn't get the turnout she's looking for she usually postpones.

My patience at at this point is completely consumed, and I am very tired of being repeatedly lied to.  I call up Barbara and ask for a refund.  We proceed to have a nearly two hour conversation in which I calmly explain my reasons and she responds by alternatingly screaming at me and attempting to bargain with me.  She pleads that if only I give it one more chance, and if she cancels again she'll give me a full refund no questions asked.  However I calmly and politely decline and ask she refund me now.  She finally capitulates, saying that she will refund me within 30 days.

Incidentally, and unsurprisingly, I saw on her website which listed upcoming events that the next networking event that she begged me to attend in fact did become cancelled.

A week before the due date of the refund that she promised both on the phone and in writing, I send her a follow-up e-mail in order to remind her.  At this point she once again claims that she has had a new car accident and a whole host of new health calamities, sends me blurry photos of some kind of prescription and a bruise as "proof" (which I don't believe for a second), and says there's no way she can refund me right now.  So, despite not believing a single thing she's saying, I give her an additional month to refund me.

Again, a week before the refund is due, I send a reminder e-mail, to which I have received no reply.

Barbara Seif and her Phoenix Network is not what she claims.  I gave her the benefit of the doubt and have lost hundreds of dollars as a result, without once receiving any of the services I paid for.  It's shameful she is so willing to repeatedly lie in order to string money out of people.  I genuinely wanted to believe in the service she offered, it sounded like a great opportunity.  Now I'm left with an obnoxious mess that requires legal action to sort out.  Shameful.

Me too!

AUTHOR: James - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 27, 2017

My story is almost identical to yours.  I filed a complaint in small claims court against Barbara.  She didn't even show up.  Now I find out she's moved to Pennsylvania.  I'd be very interested in joining forces to get my money back and make sure this doesn't happen to others.

I was also scammed by Barbara Seif. She gave me a story about how I could become a lifetime member but I had to act fast because her account and simply would not allow her to give away this amazing deal at this price! We were to have an alleged Expo on November 1st she gave me no date and no time. I asked her to cancel the contract and refund my company its money and she said to give her another chance the expo will be held on November 11th. Now there is no Expo on November 11th, she failed to create the website for this alleged networking business, she will not produce a list of alleged members of the network, I have no other choice than to seek legal counsel in order to be refunded the hundreds of dollars that Barbara stole from my business! I will be more than happy to partner with you against this deadbeat.

You're Not Sorry

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 04, 2015

You are in no way sorry.  If you were sorry, you would live up to your word and contractual agreement and provide refunds.

You would provide refunds, not only to me, but to the DOZENS and DOZENS of other professionals you have defrauded over the past number of YEARS.

The idea that you're going to "send out e-mails" is a complete joke, because at this point the only person who seems to believe your lies is you.  So many people that you've cheated and conned have been coming forward, and the stories they tell all seem to follow the same sad pattern.  Barbara shows up, makes a bunch of nice promises, accepts their money, and then never actually provides the promised services.  Again and again, this goes back years with some people.  Same excuses, same lies, same run around.

Your injuries are a sham.  Your sicknesses are a sham.  Your excuses are a sham.  And let me clarify one other issue you seem to misunderstand: you don't have a business.  You keep talking about your business, getting back to business, doing business.  A business is, by definition, goods or services provided in exchange for payment.  You got the payment part, but never provided the services.  You do not now, nor have you ever, had a business.  All you've ever had to show for yourself is a scam.  And with the number of people you've done this to, that fact has become abundantly apparent accross at least three states.

Meanwhile, I find it interesting that all of a sudden you reappear out of the woodwork to make this response, despite having a year to respond to my various communcations.  You slunk away like a rat into a hole when my refund was due and disappeared, but now that your many victims are coming forward and communicating their grievances, suddenly Barbara shows up.  Suddenly Barbara has new (same old) excuses and promises.

If you were sorry, if you were sincere, if you were honest, you would make good on your obligation to provide a total refund. If you were an actual business person, much less a decent person, you would do the right thing and own up to your shortcomings.  You would accept responsibility for your actions and lack of actions.  You would show an ounce of integrity.  Step up or shut up Barbara, either here or in court.
