Barcareers.com is a complete scam!! Santa Barbara California

Barcareers.com is a complete scam. They prey on the desperate and unemployed who are seeking jobs. I will be going back to school soon and I needed an additional PT job to help pay for it. A friend recommended I bartend to make the extra money, because the hours are flexible and it was a lucrative opportunity. I work full time already and I did not have the time or the money to attend a bartending school which would have cost me $495 Barcareers.com had a posting in my newspaper and on Careerbuilder.com so I called the number.

The alarm should have gone off immediately since I called thinking they were a "free" job training and placement service, but the rep I spoke to Andre Stone, probably a fake name, asked for money only 5 minutes into the phone call. He explained how great their service was and how much I would learn. I gave them my credit card information to pay the $98 for the training and certification. After I received my sign on information for their site I never heard from them again.

The "training materials" online are just copied from some bartending book they found and the tests are so easy you would only have to read right from the materials to get all the answers. Once I finished my online "training" I tried to contact Barcareers to find out what my next step would be. I never got any reponse from them. Their customer service number always just rings and rings I never get a live person. All of the email addresses I emailed them at, come back "undeliverable" and if you call the initial number you call when you sign up they hang up on you if they realize you are already one of their victims.

After not receiving my certification or getting any response from Barcareers, I contacted the BBB. Their response was that I was a poor student who had not completed all of my assignments and had received low marks in class and that their mission was to mentor me and I had left them in the dark about my motives...WTF!!! I was so upset. I had all the proof that I had completed all of my coursework, HELL I was listed as graduated on their website and the wack little resume they had put together for me, stated that I was an upstanding student and hardworker. Needless to say that a couple of days ago I finally received my "certification" in the mail, which looks like something my two year old nephew could have put together on photoshop.

I am highly disappointed and I am sickened at the thought that in these tough economic times these people are stealing from people. This is no laughing matter. To them it may only be a few hundred bucks, but to someone who may be unemployed or down on their luck it could be their last. Barcareers.com needs to be stopped and they need to face legal action for their lies and faulty business practices. Please stay far away they are just a bunch of CON ARTISTS!!! The best way to become a bartender is to start off as a server and work your way up.
