BOA debited out twice monthly, the same payment for 2 cc.. I followed your instruction. I have spoken to and verified that I did as I was told and I got hit twice a month for months. I have been ill for a while and used their auto pay service in order NOT to worry about being late. I focused on my health and didn't pay attention to my cc payments. I'm a single parent with failing health and BOA took advantage of me. Then told me it was my fault and they couldn't do anything except cancel the auto-pay...
I AM DISPUTING ALL DUPLICATE BOA AUTOMATIC DEBIT MONTHLY PAYMENT CHARGES 2010-2013 FOR ACCOUNTS ENDING IN 2066 & 9748. I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION I WAS GIVEN AND THIS HAPPENED! In BOA, I TRUSTED!

One more time...

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Thursday, November 07, 2013

It is obvious that you will never see how making extra payments is nothing but a good thing.

So let me ask you one more time.

If your dispute is (ever) successful and the 2nd payment was deemed incorrect..what do YOU think is going to happen?

I love reading the "Robert" REBUTTAL...You are WRONG. It was a RipOff of sort. Both min payments x 2 were treated as 2 extra monthly payments and NOT applied to the principle. I have learned a VALUABLE lesson. And I have learned you will use the same verbiage again and again to point the finger at me; instead of allowing that BOA's cs dept. was misleading and should stand accountable. Thanks and have a GRAND ole day!

Yes and the truth is...

The truth is that somehow you got set up for double automatic payments...a mistake yes but NOT a RipOff.

Again here is why it is NOT a RipOff.

- The only reasons you are making payments is because you had previously borrowed the money by using the credit card.  You are required to pay a minimum amount every month.  This minimum payment covers mostly interest and a little pricipal.  Any EXTRA you pay only goes to reduce the principal and thus reduces the interest you will pay.  The only one this benefits is YOU.

- This apparently took you at least 2 years to discover this.  So in that 2 years you did not look at not only your bank statement but your credit card statement either.

Now, again you want to dispute the extra payments.  So what do you think is going to happen?  Do you think you would just get 2 years of payments back in your checking account without anything else happening?  WRONG..if by some chance they did return the payments they would then "chargeback" your credit card for the back payments as well as the back interest that you would have paid.  This will not only increase your credit card balance, but it would increase your minimum payment, as well as cause you to pay even more in interest in the long run.

One other thing, by law credit card companies must put payoff information on your statement.  This includes what it is "costing" you if you make only Minimum Payments, as well as if you put in extra money every month.  This may be an eye opener for you.

I KNOW what I'm saying!

Excuse me! I signrd-up for an automatic debit in the amount of the MIN PAYMENT.  I called back at a later date when I received a late notice and was told I would need to sign a form for auth of debit. They sent forms and I signed. TRUSTING BOA! I found out yesterday they have 2 seprate systems. And it was unfortunate that dual payments x 2 cc were taken out, If I had wanted or could have paid more...I WOULD HAVE PAID ALL IN ONE LUMP SUM not 2 of the same payment! I could only AFFORD to PAY the MIN PAYMENT on each card! NOT DUAL MIN X2 cc.

Are you saying that you didn't look at your bank account for 3 years?

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - ()

So you gave instructions to BOA to debit your bank account twice a month for three years and now you have changed your mind and you want to cancel out the payments made for the past three years?

That's not how it works.  I see you sent the funds to two credit card accounts. If you paid too much toward those other accounts, then there would be a credit balance and you could get the excess credits refunded to you from those creditors.  However, if you were making double payments monthly but still have a remaining balance due, then the creditors aren't going to refund you payments you made for the past three years. First thing to do is check your credit card balance to see if you have a credit due to you or if you still owe money.

Reviewing your checking account on a weekly basis (at least) is your responsibility as an adult. To let it ride for 3 yrs and then blame someone else for your mistake is a childish thing to do. Don't blame it on your illness. If you are too ill to keep your finances in line, then enlist a trusted adult to help you.

No, I don't work for BOA or any bank. But I also don't let my accounts go for even a whole week without checking the status and reconciling my check register with my online balance. If you do check regularly it only takes a couple of minutes and you can catch any errors in instructions or otherwise right away.

Realize what you are saying..

You need to remember a few things as to why this may be inconvienent but it is NOT a RipOff.

The only reason you are making payments on your Credit Card is because you used the Credit Cards to borrow the money in the first place.  This borrowing comes with some terms.  These terms include your agreement to make specified payments on a specific date, as well as you agree to a specific interest rate.

Now, you are required to make a MINIMUM payment, but that doesn't mean you can't pay more.  In fact paying more only benefits you.  So when they took the extra payment they are not only reducing the balance, but they get LESS Interest and that saves you money.  So exactly how are they taking advantage of you?  If they are running some sort of scam, don't you think they would run one that makes them more money..not less.

But if to you that still doesn't matter, and you still want them to reverse the transactions.  Do you know the consequences of this request.  Well first that balance goes back on your credit card, because the payment was reversed you will then be charged the back interest, and you will be paying additional interest until it is paid from here on out because of the higher balance.
