Caliber Home Loans is unlawfully chearging $3.50 to simply make your mortgage payment on line on their website. I linked up my bank account to make my mortgage payment every month only to find out they charge $3.50 every month. This will cost me $1260 during the life of the loan! This is completely absurd. It does not cost $3.50 to make a payment from my bank.  I pay everything on line and this is my only payment that has servcie fee. Are they trying to say if I mail a check it costs them less?  Ok so I mail a check, then they have to open the mail, look up my account and then they have to deposit my check and wait for it to clear. This clealry cost them more time and manpower. Why in the world would thye charge this fee when no other mortgage compoany charges a fee??  If they try to say they are getting charged something then it is lie and they are commiting fraud.  I asked my bank and then said it is free because it is equivlant to digital check and there are no cost on either end. I am not sure how they are getting away with this scam but I know they have so many pissed off customers that NOBODY would ever recommend them to any of their friends and family. So in return for this fee they are losing millions in referral busniess. If they can not cover their costs from the massive amount of interest charges and the fees it cost me to get the loan then they need to just close their doors.  There are 100's of banks and mortgage companies with no monthly fees to make a mortgage payment so they will lose a lot of bussiness from this ill practice. I hope they wake up and fix this and credit me back ASAP!

The very first line you state that this fee is unlawful. So what specific law are they breaking by charging this fee?  Then if it is unlawful why have you not gone after them in a suit?

It is always humerous when people appear to have the entire financial situation of a company and know exactly what a company should be charging. Then isn't your bank so generous in telling you that there should be no fee because it is just a digital check.

I wonder if your bank would be as generous when you ask them how much they charge when a "non-customer" goes into a branch and tries to cash a check drawn on their bank? It doesn't cost the bank any extra to cash a check from a "non-customer" than it does a customer, yet I would bet that they charge around $5-$10.  What about overdraft fees?  The average bank charges $35+ per overdraft. Does it really cost them that much, or are they just trying to pad their bottom line?

As for no other mortgage company charging this fee, have you verified this?

By the way I took a look at their web site and if you want to pay online for free all you need to do is set up the automatic recurring payments instead of trying to do one-time payments.
