California, State Of Liberal I 10 W Entry Weigh Station California, Any California Nationwide

While driving a refrigerated, 53' van for CR England in September 2008, going into California on I-10W, I went through the weigh station and was stopped by a sheriff's deputy for a 1" to 2" tear at the top of a mudflap on the trailer I was pulling at the time.

I got what I now know is called a "fix it ticket" and sent it in to CR England for them to repair their trailer, certify the repair and pay the $10 fine.

About a month later I received a notice to be in court or pay a $130 fine for not responding to the fix it ticket. I had not heard anything from CR England about the ticket or the paperwork I had sent them to notify them of the problem.

I checked with England about the ticket. They informed me that I had to take care of it.

I was new, it was my first ticket, I didn't know and wasn't told until it was too late that I had to schedule repairs, certify them, return the paperwork to the state of California and pay the $10 fine. I live in Lonoke, AR and by then had been fired, evicted, and abandoned in Mira Loma, CA, 1,700 miles from home by England.

So, the $10 ticket had become a ticket that my cheapest way to take care of was to pay 13 times the initial fine. I didn't have the money and didn't pay.

About a month later, I get notified by California my fine has grown to $520 and legal action will follow if I don't pay. So, within 90 days of the ticket, I owe 52 times the original penalty.

So, because CR England didn't maintain their equipment and didn't give me the protocol for arranging the repairs nor tell me I was responsible for taking care of the paperwork, the certification of repairs, and the fine, I now owe the state of California $520.

But, this ripoff report is not directed at CR England, it is directed at the tyrany involved in an entity endowed with the power to use physical force increasing the penalty for a minor infraction by 13 times for being late with a payment, and without giving any notification of the coming consequences of not paying increasing the initial penalty by 52 times within approximately 90 days of the incident.

This is government sanctioned theift in the name of the people of California.

A resonable definition of the concept penalty is a percentage of the original penalty, maybe 10% not 5,200%. This is heavy handed government at its worst fueled by an authority's self righteous belief, they are an end in themselves.

It is not the philosophy or attitude of a government using power as a result of power given to them of the people, by the people and for the people, unless the people of the state of California are the hypocritical, liberals who believe they have the right to persecute the people who bring them the material goods they so love.

Every truck driver and trucking company knows the attitude of the people and government of California towards them is hostile, heavy handed, belittleing, and abusive. Companies often advertise for drivers with the incentive of "no West coast".

From the 55 mile an hour speed limit on some of the longest, straightest, levelest roads in the country, to the lack of parking and truck stops, to the constant harrassment, to the polution and idling laws, to the strict enforcment of the most minor infractions, California is anti trucker. Simply put, they, the people and the government they control, have a chip on their shoulder and use the law to damage truckers and their families as often as possible and in as many ways as possible, like some school yard bully.

But, what do you expect from a bunch of self righteous liberals who can't pay for the consequences of the "feel good" laws, the guilt of their enviable station in life, drives them to pass?
