I purchased my car with the extended warranty, not knowing that the mechanics are idiots and their service center has banker hours, actually banks have better hours.

Issues with my car began a few days after I drove it off the lot. The odometer does not register correctly; back wheels have defective brake system. It was supposedly fixed 2 times by CarMax. Last time I took the car in to CarMax the mechanic forgot to inflate my tires upon delivery! When I asked them to put air in the tires, the mechanic (who looked loaded) apologized for "forgetting to re inflate the tires"!

Because I was still having issues, I went to a non CarMax mechanic who told me, Carmax used defective parts & servicing of the brake system was done incorrectly leading to a dangerous driving condition. We called CarMax to try and get some service and guarantee that the issues would be resolved upon taking it in yet again (as it was still under warranty). I told the CarMax mgr about having these issues supposedly fixed twice and still having problems, the mgr told us "you should have identified these issues when looking at the car and not purchased the car, that's wear & tear, which is not covered" washing his hands of any responsibility despite the warranty. Of course, now the warranty has expired & they are free to scam others while I still have issues. Took the car in to a Non CarMax mechanic again & was told that CarMax not only used generic tires but that they used two different size sets of tires & the back brake system showed faulty workmanship & defective parts. To fix all that needs to be fixed will be over $1000.00.

What is generic tires?

AUTHOR: Gmf38 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 02, 2008

I would love to know what is a "Generic Tire?" What makes a tire generic? As for the defective parts, I am sure those parts either comes from a dealership or an auto parts store.

Carmax Extended Warranty

AUTHOR: Kelly - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2008

I bought my last 3 cars from Carmax with their extended service plan. The plan states that you can bring the vehicle to Carmax of any other repair facility that warranties their work. I purchased a Ford Focus and always got my warranty work done at the Ford dealership. If you don't like the service shop at Carmax why not take your vehicle somewhere else to get fixed?
