I am an ex-employee of Cedar Point. I worked there this past summer of 2005. I am not going to mention names or departments that the discrimination took place, but I am going to tell you about it.

I was terminated because of "Violation of Company Policy". Cedar Point has a point system they use for write up's of employee's. I was no where near the 18 point limit; I actually went in on off days and went in early to redeem those points to be taken off.

The Double Blue Tag, which is the supervisor of the shift, would constantly put down the employee's calling them names such as p***y and dumb a*s. I personally have heard this person using the words "(((REDACTED FOUL LANGUAGE))), etc. These words are unacceptable and against Cedar Points police to use.

The silver tag, which is the department head, on my group/shift, would make comments when the "group" would make fun of homosexuals. He would make a comment, one that I personally remember, was in reference to oral sex. He then chuckled and said "ohh, I was just kidding, and you know that" when the employee got upset.

This employee was me, and when comments were made and the right people were notified, nothing took place nor happened to my knowledge. When I was terminated, it was because another employee lied about my work performance, taking pictures with a camera, which was also against company policy to have while working, and gave them to the silver tag.

The silver tag then pulled me into the office asking me why this action was done, and I told him that was not how it was done and I remember how I did my job. He then pulled other employee's into the office behind closed doors, and when they all came out chuckling, the silver tag told me that he had witnesses and that he wanted my name tag.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY believe that I was wrongfully terminated. Did I pursue the action, no. I was actually glad that he fired me because then I could draw unemployment from them, and because it was not the department that I wanted. That and the fact that seeing that no one assisted with the problems as they occurred, I knew that nothing would be done.

The employee housing is/was UNACCEPTABLE. How do you put 16 people in 5 rooms in one apartment that is smaller than the apartment that I have now with my grandmother, and me and her are having trouble finding room to put stuff? They only have one ac/wall unit and it only cools the living room area.

When told that I had diabetes and if I could put a window unit in the window of my separate room, AT MY COST, I was told no. The commons area where the apartments are is surrounded by tall chain linked fences and they have barbed wire at the top, totally making you feel like you are at prison. And to top it off, the posted wanna be cops that stood around bullshitting and not walking the complex like they are supposed to do.

What I am saying is that I will never work there nor will I ever be a customer of Cedar Point, Cedar Fairs, LLP. If you are a parent trying to convince your young adult to go work there, DONT!! Cedar Point, each year, is known by its employees as that years Sex Fest. For Example, 2005 season was known as Sex Fest, 2005. This is because of all the sex that goes on, which is also against company policy if you are living in employee housing.

Roommates would have sex in front of who ever and it was very nasty. But God forbid if me and my boyfriend were to kiss in the living room of our apt. we were told by people that were visiting people that lived in our apt. to go somewhere else with that, and when I confronted them about it, they said it offended them. So, the "straight" sex while I am trying to sleep offended me too.

All I am saying is WATCH OUT, USE COMMON SENCE, and DONT WORK at Cedar Point

Cedar Point discriminates against employees? They sure do!

I was also fired this year from Cedar Point, and also for violating company policy. A FALSE report was filed against me by Sargeant Rankin of the Cedar Point police. I have personally heard many complaints about this officer in regards to discrimination against gay and white people. In his report against me, he claimed that he was at the front counter of my dorm, taking a complaint from another employee about someone lurking in the showers. He claimed that I waklked past him at the counter, and he and his partner followed me to the showers after I was pointed out by the complaintant. Then they accused me of lurking in the showers, and peeping OVER shower stalls. What actually happened was that I had been in my room all morning talking to my youngest brother and lawyer about my parent's estate. I went to the showers directly from my room for the first time that day, not going anywhere near the front counter. Rankin and his partner where hanging out directly outside the shower room at that time, and followed me in less than five minutes after I entered. They interrupted my shower while I was rinsing conditioner from my hair. I'm sorry, but there is no planet in the universe where that would be considered lurking. They also claimed that I was peeping OVER the shower stalls. The shower stall in that dorm are over six feet high, and I'm less than five feet eight inches. There are no benches in the showers, and I am not athletically inclined. It would have been physically impossible for me to do as they claimed.

After Rankin and his partner filed their report, the supervisor at the dorm counter admitted that their report was FALSE, but she refused to say anything to anyone because it wasn't her job.
The only company policy that I violated was being gay, even though I never had ANY intimate contact with anyone unless it was in the privacy of my room, which I lived in alone. If I had been straight, and had sexual intercourse with a female on the front steps of the dorm, nothing would have been said about that.

Cedar Point also discriminates on the basis of race (they have one black supervisor in the entire Sandusky park, and black people are looked down upon by most white supervisors), and against people with physical or mental limitations. If you are with a group who deals with learning disabilities, you would love to hear how the employees ridicule your groups before you even get to the park.

I would suggest not letting your kids work there, or even visit there. They deserve the severe drop in attendance they suffered toward the end of the season, because of how they discriminate against employees and guests alike.
