Cheyenne distributing hires employees for their Kirby vaccuum sales under 1099 contractors. This generally means you are self employed, but they do not follow the regulations for employing 1099 contractors. Employees are made to cold call at doors, sometimes until past midnight, with no prior appointment made or choice in location. Employees that go for 'road trips' are taken hours from their hometown without a vehicle and made to stay in overpopulated hotel rooms and work from roughly 8am to midnight.

The team leads frequently withhold meals, warmth, and even getting prepaid cards for prepaid users when they are not happy with the team's performance. Not only that, but employees are only paid on commission for A level credit purchases. They do not have the required paperwork on hand to record demos and use lack of records as an excuse to not pay salary. The office I was associated with was in Loveland, but they are known to move offices. If you see or hear 'CID', ask if it stands for 'Cheyenne Distributing'. If it does, or if you hear the name 'Dan Healey', get out of there!

The Story HAS Been Set Straight

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Of COURSE it makes sense to treat the employees making you money well, but maybe you should learn to think before you speak as well. When I originally posted this, I stated very clearly that we were hired as 1099 contractors, but do YOU know what being a 1099 contractor means? Under the Colorado labor laws, a 1099 contractor should NEVER find themselves stuck in a town miles away from their home, without their own transport to get home, being FORCED to knock on doors in neighborhoods they had NO choice in 8am to almost midnight. A 1099 contractor is legally supposed to have their own transport, choose their own hours, and choose their clientele. We were NOT hired as 1099, other than on the contracts the trainers "breezed through" at the end of a very long training day when everyone kust wanted to get selling because they already burned three days spending money without making it. Dan Healey knows the dishonest way his company is ran, he just doesn't care, as long as he makes money. Why were we hired under "Cheyenne Distributing" when the compnay registered under their Loveland location is "Platinum Distributing"? Why has the Cheyenne District Attorney penalized him in a civil case (see here: http://ag.wyo.gov/cpu/resolved-matters)? See, I noticed there were two kind of people when I worked for Dan, decent ones and money minded ones. The decent ones were the majority. They were naive and grew disappointed the more and more they realized they had been scammed. They were the ones who DID listen to the trainer and were promised a BASE SALARY, but were given every reason under the sun why they couldn't pay it. They started false knocking doors in neighborhoods they had JUST been in and threatened to have the police called on them. They were the reason turnover was SO high. Then you had the greedy ones. They made sales because they didn't care HOW they made them. I saw team leaders and "top salesmen" gloat about sales they made to customers who honestly shouldn't have been buying a $3000 or even an $800 (our "special lowball" price, aka. the last resort to sell a vacuum when the homeowner has said "no" multiple times) because of financial difficulties. Does Dan care? No, they just repo the vacuums and resell them to the next customer. The first sale I was taken out on, the lead was actually laughing at how easy it was to sell a vacuum to a Stage 4 cancer patient. So yes, you can make a lot of money, if you are willing to prey on people and the same naivety that left many a "family" member stranded in cities and towns, with no way home (luckily my dad was willing to make a SIX hour drive to come get me). Do you know what having people falsely claimed as a 1099 contractor does for Dan? It means YOU are responsible to file the taxes on your commissions, which means he doesn't have to pay any of that tax to the IRS. To me, that is just another example of the kind of person Dan Healey and his "cronies" are. You're right, I didn't know Dan personally, but after working for him and seeing the way he allowed his company and trainers/leads to operate, I don't want to. Just like I didn't want to refer to my job as "sligning chrome" as if I was some kind of drug dealer. You can sing your praises of Dan Healey all you like and I have seen first hand how well those who make money for him are treated, getting "priority" seating and having the luxury of being able to sit pretty while someone else got taken off a house they canvassed so their "top salesman" was able to be put in, so I don't doubt that if you were making the company money, you were treated very well indeed. However, the Kirby company itself has many times distanced themselves and made clear that Cheyennne Distributing and Dan Healey are in no way affiliated with their company, other than being a distributor. I met a young kid when I went out to my sales team who, at the time, was doing well and he was so pumped to be working for CID when we first met him, he even had a Kirby vacuum tattoo that he was more than proud to show us. By about the end of my time with them, I was spending time late one night trying to comfort him and saying goodbye, worried because he didn't know if he had the money to get home on a Greyhound, like he planned. So before you accuse the rest of us of being "lazy" and "unfair" to Dan Healey and Cheyenne Distributing, maybe you should do some thinking. I know for a fact, after working two weeks straight, going door to door in rain and snow many times, from 8am to midnight or later, in neighborhoods that we had already been clearly told we were not welcomed or wanted in, and getting paid $50 for all that, that I am not lazy or being unfair to Dan Healey and his BMW.

Okay for those of you posting all these negative things I used to work for Dan Healy myself remember working for CDI was your choice Dan Healy is a good man he helped me becoming who I am today I started just like you guys as a Salesman and then overtime I became a team leader. And it was great sure was hard in the beginning but that's what happens when you're new or too lazy and you're burning doors and looking for La Downs I was making my checks so my checks would be $1,800 for one week sometimes $500 for one week it's a commission-based job with a split they tell you this in the beginning and if you would have listened to your team leader you probably would have succeeded Kirby's one of my best months 50 60 as a dealer sold over a hundred as a team leader so before you bash Dan think b4 you say hes gave me money out of his own pocket bought me meals and everything

RE: Not a Kirby Distributorship

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 23, 2015

They are not a Korby dostributorship and I found that out when I contacted Kirby to report the mistreatment. However, I think it's real dishonest of Kirby and Warren Buffet to allow distributors, such as Cheyenne Distributing, use the Kirby name to draw in employees and consumers because they trust the brand. Riddle me this Kirby, do you sleep well at night knowing your name and brand are being misused to cheat people? Does it feel good to make millions selling to these companies so they can rob Americans while you wash your hands of any responsibility?
