My husband and I have two vehicles leased through Chrysler Financial. We fell behind three months on both vehicles due to work injury (my husband is self employed) We made arrangements with Chrysler on 11/2/07 to make full payments on both vehicles on 11/5/07, once cash had cleared our bank account. On 11/4/07 they reposessed one of the vehicles. As it was a Sunday, My husband and I went to Citizens bank and had the manager make funds available to us that day so that we could Quick collect the funds via western union that day instead of Monday as we agreed upon. We obtained the funds and went to western union and wired $1865 to Chrysler that same day. on Monday I called Chrysler to see where I could retrieve my vehicle I was told that I had to pay the entire lease out to obtain and the monies that was forwarded to them was lost.

After being told that the vehicle would not be returned, I called western union to have the funds redirected to the other vehicle since they made it clear that we could not have the vehicle back unless we came up with about $23,000 (no one has yet to tell us the exact amount). Western union said that they would redirect. The next day I spoke to Pat Leady the collections manager and he decided that the redirection wasn't sufficient and called western union can told them not to. I the customer called western union back and they said the receiving party said for them not to redirect and they would not.

Long story short... Chrysler Financial has been paid up to November 14th for a vehicle I have no access to. And Western Union has taken away my right to redirect my money transfer to another account because the receiver told them not to.

I was never able to claim my property from the vehicle about $1,000 worth of cd/dvd's and my car was sold at a private sale

Chrysler Financial Is a horrible lying company and will tell you what you want to hear and then repo your vehicle anyway

It is there common practice to do what they did to you. I used to repossess vehicles for them. I dont know about the laws in your state but In Texas where I worked, once the vehicle is repossesed it goes to a storage lot from there you are able to come pick up your personal affects provided they are not mounted in the vehicle, such as radios, cd players , amps , speakers and such. The only way you might not be able to pick the vehicle would be If you ignored calls or hid the vehicle just to keep it. Then they might CALL IN the entire note as due imediately and in full because they consider the loan at risk.

I am in no way saying it is right but thats how they work. As far as the vehicle being sold they should have had to wait thirty days for you to come up with the funds and the money they add to it for the repossession and that is a set fee by them dont let them lie to you and tell you it's not. What you need to do is ask them where the vehicle was stored at , That is most likely where your personal affects are at. you might only have so many days to collect them or then the stuff is considered abandoned and become the property of who ever in the company wants it. If it hasnt already, there are some shady repo companies out there . Hope you get your stuff and sorry to hear about your story hope I helped a little
