On December 17, 2004 I went to Circuit City to purchase a compaq notebook computer; the one that i had chosen was on sale for 799. the sales person told me that the hp notebook (which is literally the same as the compaq) would be 699 after the three mail-in rebates totalling 350. list price was actually more, but with the rebates i would be saving 100. comparing the two computers, it made sense to purchase the hp computer and save 100. he gave me all the appropriate sales receipts with the pertinent information about the rebate offers.

I entered my information online at the circuitycityrebates.com website; was told that all was accepted and as long as they received the hardcopies of all the sales receipts, i would be receiving the checks within 8 weeks of my postage date. i then received one email from circuit city stating that they had received my paperwork and were processing it; i then inquired about the other rebates that i had submitted and was told that the other ones were not valid rebates. they were only doing one 150 rebate on this computer. so i ended up with a computer that cost me more money than i would have spent and they were blatently fraudulent with their promises.

I believe this is called the bait and switch routine and i am filing a complaint with the better business bureau. i will never shop at circuit city again and i am suggesting to all my family and friends to follow suit. I'm a single parent with a tight budget, i surely don't need to be robbed of my hard earned money and have promises made to me about anything.

All I asked was WHO offered the rebate. Thank you for your continued comments about my ex employer, however, they are completely wrong, and I do expect to see a respnse to this stating that you have received both rebates and you apologize for your comments.

Contact the Circuit City Rebate Centre. Advise them of your situation, BOTH rebates were printed from the store when you purchased the items. Please read them the PO BOX number, or the Porgram Number from the rebate form so that they are able to find the two rebates in a timely manner.

If you do not have that information, have our ticket number, date of purchase and your brand and model purchase when you call the centre.
When they have found both rebates, they will let you know of the situation, wheather they can process, or whather they have to transfer to a supervisor that would be able to process therebate for you.

IF the rep tells you they cannot find two offers for your date of purchase, as for a supervisor, they have been there longer and are able to find rebates a lil easier sometimes.

Circuit City WILL stand behind the rebates that they have promised. We have given rebates to customers that were offered by other companies by mistake to our customers, we have paid customers that do not qualify for a particular rebate, becasue it was our fault they got the rebate information/form.

The above advise is only if both were offered through Circuit City Rebates.
If the other was offere d through manufacturer, you have more of a problem.

I am sicka nd tired of seeing rebate problems on this website for Cirucit City. Circuit City pays out mroe rebates than any other company i have ever worked for. They allow SOO many exceptions. All you gotta do is call and commuincate, we can solve almost anything!
No receipt in your envelope? Call us with your ticket number, we'll process over the phone. You'll get your rebates in 2-4 weeks.
No barcode? WE DON"T NEED IT. EVER!!!!!!!!!
(our forms don't ask for it anymore even)
WRong Rebate Form? We'll find ythe right one for you, and process it over the phone. 2-4 week for your rebate.

Past the postmark date? We'll process that over the phone for you.

Forgot to cash your rebate check froma year ago? We'll replace it.

If you get no satisfaction from calleing the rebate centre (the number on your rebate form) then call the Customer Cervice "cool line" 1-800-251-2665 Option "0", and they will fix you up(hoping that moderators allow me to put that number)

the two rebates offered were directly from circuit city, the young america program, young america, mn. so, although your noticing my post is appreciated, it is not who offered me the rebates is the problem. the problem is that i was told i should purchase a more expensive computer because in the end it would be cheaper than the one that i wanted due to the fact that i would be receiving these rebates. i still am being told that i didn't qualify for two, just one and the sales person was in error, however, the receipts for the rebates are automatically generated upon purchase and when i entered my information online in the rebate section, it was approved pending receipt of documents. these tell me that you guys just change the dates of the promotions whenever you feel like it and run the bait and switch scam a lot.

Circuit City, or Manufacturers Rebates?

OK, the is happens ALL the time.
You were offered $300 in Rebates.
WHO WERE THEY FROM?
Were they all from Circuit City, located in Young America, MN or Detroit, MI?
OR were they MANUFACTURER's rebate, where you had to send to MESA, AZ?
If you have the rebate forms, please provide the PO BOX number and the City/State for me and I can tell you which company offered them.
