In the latter part of Feb./02,I purchased a brand new HP computer, monitor, and printer from the Circuit City store in Shreveport La.
The salesman was really nice and was turely concerned that I got the best deal possible. This was my first major purchase. I think because I was a female, he took advantage of me and talked me in to purchasing a computer system for $1200.00.
In addition to paying such a high cost for the computer, he talked me into buting the extended service agreement. Which brought me total to $1450.00.
The service agreement was canceled the next month(early March)
the computer went on the bink in the latter part of March and it was passed the the 14day return policy.
I think that this computer was defected when purchased and they were well aware of this. I've contacted the store and the 1-800 number to try to make some arrangements.
They would not here of it. They told me this was my computer and I should contact HP to fix the problem. The problem is with the hard drive and the fan, that can only come from dropping the system.
I know I didn't drop $1200.00, but someone did!@@!!!
If they would have only entertained the thought that it could have been theur fault.
******The 14-day return policy on electronics is insane******

If a fan in the computer goes defective, that doesnt mean it was dropped. You knew the terms of the 14 day return policy. YOU cancelled the extended warranty. You cannot place the blame on circuit city or the sales rep for your bad choices. The extended warranties, especially on computers are not rip offs. If you still had yours, you would know.
Its people like you that made me hate my job there.
"I think that this computer was defected when purchased and they were well aware of this. I've contacted the store and the 1-800 number to try to make some arrangements."
Yes its all a big conspiracy. Why didnt you contact HP instead of laying the blame on the people that sold it to you? You thought the sales rep was aware of the problem? Sure. And he sold it to you anyway to make a measly $20 or so in commission.
You make me sick.

First, you say that the service plan was cancelled, by who? And who told you that these problems would only occur if you dropped it? If that were the case, it would not work from the time you took it out of the box, by the way, was the box damaged? I've seen how they pack the computers, even if it were dropped, it would have to be quite substantial and the box would have been visibly damaged. If so, you should have refused that computer.
The fact is, computers can and do crash. That is why they offer the service plan, not to rip you off. Sounds like you wanted to get your money back (at the reccomendation of someone else) and when your computer did crash, you needed to blame someone else.
In addition, HP has a one year warranty, and the sales receipt clearly states that you have 14 days to return the computer. Circuit City sells the computer, they don't make it, and cannot be held responsible for what you do to it when you get it home. Ever try to take a new car back to the dealership after you wreck it? Doesn't work does it.
Sounds to me like you should have kept the service plan, and your opinions to yourself...
