I have found that a few people on this and similar websites have recieved letters from Citibank closing their Mastercard accounts due to vague reasons that are unfounded and not true.

I received the same letter today Sept 1 2009, (letter dated Aug 27) from Citibank (South Dakota),''As a result of a recent review we found it necessary to close your Citi MasterCard account. Your account was reviewed by a credit scoring system that assigned a numerical value to various items on your credit report. The information did not score a sufficient number of points to keep your account open.

Not having been delinquent, no collections filed against us, same line of balances I have carried over the last few years, was a little strange that it was cancelled. Now I am running across the same complaint on a number of website such as this involving the same card. Perhaps this is Citibank's way of getting out of this 0% interest card. But I fear this also maybe messing with mine and a lot of other people's credit scores that don't deserve have a cancelled card on their reports.

I had a similar situation with CHASE basically same as what you had reported except they said reason it was closed was due to in-activity for 30 days... hadnt used the card in 30 days. They claimed that most of the credit card companies are doing this, at the time I was in Iraq and had approx. used it for more than a month but I noticed this when I went to use the card and it was declined than I went to check my account said account was closed etc. So just to throw that out there....

These are the exact reasons your card was cancelled. If you were not using the card to rack up new charges at interest, they were not making any money off you. It makes no sense from a business standpoint to keep customers who do not generate any profit. You represented a business loss for them, so they decided they did not wish to do any further business with you.
