I purchased a gigabyte mother board and a intel e5700 chip for my computer form COMP USA the fisrt board did not work I took it back to COMPUSA and explained the problem and error codes the board was showing .Their Tech  exchanged the board but not the chip I tried the new board and could not get the computer to boot. When I brought the second mother board back to COMPUSA Their tech checked the motherbord and said a socket 775 pin was bent they refused to replace mother board and told me to call the manufacturer for replacement when I asked for the Manufacturer's phone number I was told the number was in taiwan or china I asked if the people overseas spoke english I was told HOW SHOULD I KNOW I took the board home and inspected both the chip and the socket 775 THERE IS NO WAY I COULD HAVE BENT THE SOCKET PIN WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE CHIP, THE CHIP IS FINE.BEWARE IF YOU BUY FROM COMPUSA

LGA775 sockets

AUTHOR: Josh - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 25, 2011

You are full of it.  The LGA 775 CPU doesn't have pins, they are on the motherboard side.  If you were careless inserting the CPU, you will damage the motherboard socket.  Obviously, that won't damage the CPU itself, since there are no pins on it -- just round contact pads.  It's extremely unlikely that you would have two bad motherboards in a row -- sounds like you just don't know what you are doing when it comes to computers.  The manufacturer won't help you -- physical damage is never covered by any warranties.
