I need to share this with anyone who is thinking about working with this company. I filed for bankruptcy a few yrs back and needed to get a van that I could retrofit for my handicapped child,. Well about a yr into my loan I lost my job:. I made several attempts to work with them for the missed payments:. They would not work with me'. So finally after all their harassing phone calls I told them to come and get the car. Two yrs later they are still harassing me for the unpaid balance and threatening to sue me:. I have been told I was lying about my child being deaf and blind, and in a wheelchair along with all of this other medical problems.

But of course they deny it was ever said'.

This was my most recent conversation as of to day,

On June 20that approximately 3:30 p.m., I contacted Consumer Portfolio Services (CPS) and spoke to Hedi Garcia. I had to yell at her to give me her supervisor. I attempted to again make a settlement offer less then what they would take. He finally agreed to take a settlement but would not send me a settlement letter until I gave him a post dated check with my checking account info. When I told him I did not have an account but would send by western union or cashiers check the next day, I was told because I did not have a checking account they would not take a settlement but instead i would have to pay a $1000 MORE .

The manager stated he would talk to someone placed me on hold then came back stating after reviewing my account CPS would not be able to provide a settlement.

When asked why I was not able to receive a settlement offer letter before sending money I was told it would be a waste of time and money and how did he have a guarantee that I would send the money anyway. I was then told CPS would not send a settlement letter without my checking account information given 1st. When I asked to speak to his supervisor (the decision maker) I was hung up on.

Plus they have been treating to sue me for the last 1 1/2.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I know they where just trying to get access to my checking account so they could take what they wanted. Plus when I questioned him about it I was told it was illegal to do that Yah right I have read so many stories on these sites about them taking money from people like this. Now I am just waiting to see if I will be sued. I don't have anything and if they
sue me I will be homeless with my handicapped child because I don't have any money to pay this off.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

He then stated I was in the business of using people and liked taking things from people. When I told him his company sucked he told me they must be doing something right because they have been in business for the last 20 yrs and bought out two other companies.

I wish someone could find a way to file a class action law suit about them.

How dare you hop on the net and add to people's stress they have regarding this company. So, this whole group of people are lying and lazy about those bottom feeders at CPS. People's experience is their experience. Bad enough people lose their transportation, but now they have to deal with you as well.

Jim you are an a**hole. You probably work for CPS and karma is a B*tch, b***h. You will go down with them, no doubt. People make 60+ payments and you call them lazy. You have way to much time on your hands to sit online and defend a company with absolutely no integrity.

I Googled this company and they have bad ratings everywhere. Companies like this are part of the reason America is on the down. Get a real job, Jim aka CPS rep. Jim you are so B*tch made. Tell me, does CPS dry f*ck you in the a*s, or do they lube you up first?

Oh, and their deferrals are a ripoff people, that is how they get you to pay more interest at end of your loan. Ask me how I know.

A Little Confused!!!

I don't understand why you have had so much trouble with them, I've had my car loan with this company for the last 3 years  or so and they have been very helpful to me.  About a year ago, my husband got hurt at work and we had to wait for his workers comp to kick in, and they bent over backward to help us in any way that they could.

Because it took a little longer than expected to get my husbands check, we became  over 30 days late, and paid them as soon as we could.  To help us out, they not only did a deferrment for us so that it would show that we were caught up, they kept the fact that we were 30 days late off our credit report, so that it didn't suffer as well.  So basically for the 3 years we've had the loan, ALL of our payments show as being on time!!!

I've dealt with other car loan companies that have been pure hell to deal with, so as far as Consumer Portfolio Services is concerned, I think they are one of the BETTER companies!!!

Still another subprime borrower/subprime mentally cry baby who doesn't have ANY way of counteracting good, solid information and advice so its the "you must work for them" BS. Here's something you haven't figured out yet, if you don't want problems with BILL COLLECTORS...then pay your bills.

Typical

Another Sub-Prime borrower who can't meet their obligation who wants to sue the lender.  First do you even know what it takes to file a Class Action Lawsuit?  Perhaps you have been watching too much court TV.  Beyond that exactly what are you going to sue them for?

You had credit issues in the past and got another loan with a Sub-Prime lender.  You then couldn't meet your legal obligation and because they wouldn't "work with you"(which is code for they wouldn't do what you wanted) you told them to take the car back.

Whether they come and get the car or you turn it in it is still a Repo as such you are still legally obligated for the balance of the loan.  So suing you is not a threat, it is a real possibility.

Now if they were rude or insensitive to your situation and didn't want to "work with you" that of course is unfortunate.  However, that is not grounds to sue them and does not remove your legal obligations you made when you got the van.

By the way don't think if you went with another finance company that the results would be different.
