In November 2015, we came in with engine trouble with our leased Kia Sportage. They immediately said that it was a blown engine (without looking at it) and said that if I couldn't prove right then that I had 9 oil changes that Kia would not pay to have the car repaired. They said it was $5,000 for a new motor and that I could not take it to my own repair shop to have it fixed for less because that would void the lease and we would then have to purchase the car after the lease period ended. They said the only other option was to roll us over into a new car, the only car available was a silver Kia Optima Hybrid. The payments were more than we could afford, but we were seemingly left with no other choice. The sales manager Dan told us to come back after 6 months and he would get us into a different lease for a lower payment. Now is 6 months later and they tell me there is nothing they can do and I am stuck in the lease. I decided to check with a different dealership who informs me that unfortunately, we are too upside down on the car for them to help us either. However, they did tell us that I could have taken the Sportage to my own repair shop as long as it is licensed (which it is) and that they likely could have even fixed the motor under Kia warranty in the first place. I tried to reach out to a sales manager and the president of Coral Springs Auto Mall and left multiple messages but no one has returned my calls. It has been weeks. I want answers and I want the sales people who lied to us just to get a sale to be removed from their job so that no other families have to go through this hardship just for them to make a sale. This is our 4th and last lease from Coral Springs Auto Mall.
