The craiglist.org site is a total ripoff and probably one of the biggest ripoffs on the entire Internet. Why do I have such a low opinion of them? They are supposed to be a .org, which is the eptiome of saying they're a public service / not-for-profit organization and I believe that lowers or eradicates their tax liabilities, but they definitely cater to their paying customers because I put up a free ad and was blacklisted / deleted arbitrarily. I'm thinking it was because they either have a deal with the other service(s) that list under that type of service or because I didn't pay for the ad.

I followed all of their rules regarding placing a services ad, but initially had trouble getting my ad onto their site. I went to the 'Contact Us' page and sent them an email to obtain help, but all I got was an immediate auto-email message telling me they don't have to help their members but leave that to their 'forums community'.

Well I went to their forums community and entered in all the information only to be told in an error message that I needed to login to post in the forums. So I made sure I was logged in, wrote the whole thing in again (this time I copied it, just in case) and whaddya know? Yes! The same error message.

So not only was I not able to contact them for help, I was blocked from their forums community and on top of that, despite having went through every hoop they wanted me to jump through, they sent me an email today (approximately 6 days after my initial episode with them) that my ads had been flagged and deleted. No explanation, just that darned impersonal auto-email.

Subsequently, I sent them my own auto-email message letting them know I no longer wished to be associated with their crappy web site and to cease and desist any communiques with me from themselves, any of their members or any affiliates, partners or linked companies, entities, or individuals.

I thought this was going to be a FUN experience and I'd be able to expand my services in my local area using a free service, but all I got was a big headache and treated like a trashy liar.

This is why I love Ripoff Report, it's the only site I've found where the little guy in America actually still has a big voice. I hope other people who've been screwed by craigslist.org will see that it's just a money making tax shelter for its owners and doesn't have the common decency of a public service / not-for-profit organization to stand behind its members / users.

Hope to hear craigslist.org gets theirs.

Even after your 1,000 word rant about how Craigslist should be sanctioned for mis-treating little old you....

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2011

you failed to answer what several posters asked you......What article or service were you trying to list?

"If it's so easy to place an ad - then why was mine deleted?"

Did it or did it not violate their terms of service?

Who cares if they charge for, likely, commercial advertising, apparently you violated some term or condition.

Your opinion appears to be that they have to kiss your butt because they list .org in their address.

Your opinion also appears to be that if they don't see things your way, they should be out of business.

I doubt Craigslist is any part of the HUGE conspiracy you're suggesting....get a life and learn to use the site according to their TERMS OF SERVICE.

What, again, was the item or service you were attempting to list?

Proof of Paid Ads--

AUTHOR: Crystaldk - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2011

Thanks for nothing people - since you LOVE being treated like a number and having crappy service, thought I'd at least set you straight regarding AD POSTING FEES ON CRAIGSLIST:

http://www.craigslist.org/about/help/posting_fees

The above page on craigslist DOES TAKE AD FEE PAYMENTS you people are very misinformed and might want to dig deeper before denouncing my report and basically telling me I should be treated in such a shoddy fashion.

They may have only 30 employees - but THIS is why America (and the world) needs better regulation on the Internet, so that businesses, organizations, agencies, associations, corporations, etc. are run with ethics, professionalism and transparency.

If it's so easy to place an ad - then why was mine deleted? They've never come forward to face me on that just with highly frustrating and totally maddening auto-emails that loop back to their forums. Sad that 90% of you would rather have crappy service in America than take pride in our work and our businesses / quality of life, but that's the slacker attitude theses days. *sigh*

Now, the ripoff, my friends is that they are not practicing fair business practices they are allowing those people who placed PAID BLOCK ADS to delete ANY COMPETITORS and THATS the RIPOFF! Theyre also not having to pay taxes as they are a foundation (of thieves and charlatans, in my opinion) and are not having to stand tall in front of users with ANY kind of REAL assistance to their site and/or any problems that arise therein.

You really need to do your research! Im not coming back in here on this one again, but please, talk about what you know and show me proof as I have done for you before you go slamming my very real, very true horrible experience.

Im off to place a REAL ad in a REAL newspaper where Ill be treated like a person and NEVER deleted (unless I dont pay).  I can only hope that my experience would be justified if it saves one person from headache / undue deletion or helps in bringing about the regulation enforcement needed in the online communities across the world. After working exclusively online for 10+ years, I believe I have the expertise to suggest and truly want that.

In closing I do thank you all for your opinions and hope that in future youll research the subjects youre talking on or even just the site itself (which is how I found out that craigslist does indeed obtain fees from some, not all, but some of its users AND obviously favors those users).

Don't see the ripoff.

  You believe wrong.

Reading your post, it looks like one of two things.   Either the "service" that you are advertising has some restrictions, or you just don't know how to use Craigslist properly.   It's pretty much a self-serve type of site.  They have about 30 employees, so if you can't figure it out for yourself, you shouldn't expect much assistance from their staff.  Millions of people have figured out how to post an ad correctly, so I have to wonder why you should be any different.

Anyway, it's their website and they get to choose what appears on their site.   It's not a ripoff because you didn't pay anything to put an ad on the site.

More info please

Would you mind humoring us a little by divulging what you were trying to advertise with them? I'm not aware of any paid ads on Craigslist. Nobody pays them anything. You must have violated some term or service. and for your information, they started life as a .org because that's what they were. Over the years, Ebay bought them out. You can't be ripped off if you didn't lose anything.

Where is the RipOff

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 07, 2011

You were posting a FREE ad, so tell us again how exactly you were Ripped Off?

Since there are thousands of "free ads" that are posted every day and not deleted, you must be saying that they are just picking on you for fun because they have nothing better to do.  That is what you are saying right...

My guess is that the real reason is you are being flagged/banned is because of the type of "service" you are trying to offer.
