We bought a van in nov 2007 from cross auto sales. The sales price was supposed to be $13900. (We received a statement last week from credit acceptance for $21000.)We traded a truck that we owed $3300, we thought it was $4000 at the time, and cross auto gave us $5000 and told us anything under $4000 would go towards our downpayment, then the salesman states a few days later that the payoff was a "wash" because of the high mileage on the truck. (He pocketed $700 extra)

The payments were supposed to start in dec and come from our checking account, didn't start. We received a call 2 days after the "due date" stating we needed to make the payment via moneygram with in three days. Called two days later to get info for moneygram, different agent tells me we don't owe dec payment, and that the jan payment would be coming out of our checking account. Okay.

Jan payment came out on time and then deposited back into our account the next day. Called credit acceptanc and they said we owed for two months now, not just one. Told me there was a misunderstanding with last agent and we could make up the first payment thru out the year. okay

Feb payment made via moneygram-the checking account didn't work these people not smart enough to get it right apparently. We made the payment on a friday at 3:00 pm and by 7:00 pm that evening someone had repoed the van from our driveway. The agent informed on me on Monday, that the payment did not post until after their business hours and since the van was already repoed we owed a whopping $1275 before we could get it back. 2 months worth of payments and repo fees. We had one week to make a $250 deposit before the van went to auction.

We made the $250 deposit the next thursday and paid the remaining $1025 the following thursday. I called credit acceptance with my confirmations of payments and they released the vehicle back to me, but the van had already been sent to auction 3 hours away in north little rock!!!

The following tues drove the 3 hours to pickup van and drove home with receipt from auction stating a $0 balance. Two days later, Credit Acceptance calls and states that we owe $60 in fees that were acquired after the van was released to us but I could just add that to the next payment. That was fine with us.

Over the next few days I received 12 phone calls from credit acceptance with a different amount for fees each time with the last one being around $250. Now they have decided if I do not make these fees before the next payment is due, they are going to repo the van AGAIN. We told them to come get it, we weren't paying $20000 for a 3 year old mini van or paying their stupid fees.

Both of these companies are scam artists and will do anything to make an extra buck!! Do NOT deal with either one of these!!!
