We bought a 2005 Chevy uplander from Cross Auto Sales in Nov 2007 and we traded in a 2000 Ford F250-good looking p/u by the way. We bought the van for $13900 and now we find out thru credit acceptance that the payoff on the van is $20077!!!! We only owed 3300 on our p/u but at the time we thought it was closer to 4000, so Cross gave us 5000 for our p/u and told us that if their was any difference the rest would go towards our down payment along with a $500 check from us. Good right? Wrong!!

When I called cross on it the salesman informed that it was a "wash" since the truck had so many miles on it and that we "would still get all the benfits from it". Then my first payment with credit acceptance was supposed to come straight out of our checking account in dec. Well, it didn't come out in dec and a few days after it was "due" an agent from the company-a man- called and told me i had two days to make the payment via moneygram.

When i I called Credit Acceptance to get the information to send the payment two days later, the agent-a lady this time- told me I didn't owe a payment until Jan. I explained to her that I had received a call two days prior stating i had to make the payment via moneygram and she said he was mistaken the payment would be coming out of our checking account but not until jan. Needless to say I was relieved.

The payment was taken out in jan, then returned back into my checking account, which we thought was odd so we called them on it. The agent-a different man- stated that we owed 2 months and needed to pay it immediately via moneygram. I explained that I couldn't do that I still had to tag the vehicle. He said we could catch it up thru out the year. I made the feb payment at 4:00 on a friday afternoon and at 7:00 that evening my van was repoed!!!!

When I called them on it a different agent told me that he himself had "cancelled the repo order". I stated to him that the van was gone and he asked if the people left a card and I said yes but I have already called them and they were closed until Monday. He told me to call the repo department first thing the next morning-a saturday morning. No one was there!!!

So I called Monday morning and the agent -a different woman- stated that the payment did not post until after business hours their time and since the van was already repoed, that I had to come up with a total of $1275 before I could get it back in Dec payment, Jan payment, and repo fees!!!! Luckily we had just got filed income taxes and we had a week before our refund was due back. She said I had one week to make a $250 deposit to hold the van and then I could make payments of $250 until the $1275 was paid in full.

We paid the $250 on the next friday and paid the remainder $1025 on the following thursday. I called with my confirmations and they released my van back to me, but I had to drive 3 hours to North Little Rock to pick it up at the auction house. I was seriously ticked off by then!!!! The following Tues we drove the 3 hours to pickup the van, drove home.

Two days later, Credit acceptance calls to inform me that I still owe $60 in fees but I could pay it with the March payment, that was fine with me. Two days later they call back and state that i owe, roughly, $200 in fees that acquired after I picked up my van. Apparently, for a key they had to make and a scratch on the rear bumper that they had to fix.

I never got an extra key from them, I gave them one key when they repoed the van and I got one key back when I picked up the van. The scratch they supposedly fixed on the van is still there and they did it!!! They informed me if I did not pay these fees they would come repo the van again, I informed the agent at that time that she could have the thing back I wasn't paying the $20000 or these fees!!! These people are ripoff kings do NOT do business with Cross Auto or Credit Acceptance.
