Seven years ago I got a post card in the mail for a Cross Country Bank credit card. I was trying to rebuild my credit after a painful divorce, and thought this would be a good way to start.

Since I was already pre-approved, all the postcard needed was my signature. I read the few sentences that stated the terms. Nothing unlike any other card..so I signed away and mailed it back.

THAT WAS THE END OF ANY CHANCE I HAD OF REBUILDING MY CREDIT FOR A LONG LONG TIME.

I recieved my card 3 weeks later. Since I had just gotten a new job as a waitress, I needed a uniform. I went and carefully selected items that totalled $108.00 for 2 uniforms. My credit limit was only $300.00, so I was being very careful. Then, I went to buy work shoes. I picked out a cheap $20.00 pair of shoes, and went to the register to pay.

The cashier said, "It won't go through." I said "What do you mean it won't go through??". She replied, "I can't get an approval...you're over your limit." As everyone in line behind me let out a big sigh, I tried to explain that there should be almost $200.00 available. Again, the sighs and now snickering could be heard loudly behind me. Humiliated and embarrassed, I put the shoes back, and went to the nearest payphone and called the customer service number on the card.

The Customer Service Representative explained to me that I was over my limit by 36.00. She couldn't tell me why, except to say it will be on my next statement.

Well, I got the statement, and there were 3 unauthorized charges added by Cross Country Bank. One was for $100.00, one for $49.00, and the last for $79.00. Somehow I lost the statement, shortly after, and can't remember what the charges were. One had something to do with car repair or rental????

That was the beginning of, so far, 7 years of harrassing phone calls, unanswered disputes I mailed to Cross Country's P.O. Box, nasty Customer Service Reps who offered no help, no real address to complain to, and no home office telephone number. Nasty phone calls from various collection agencies. And now lawyers for Cross Country Bank are threatening to sue me. The Better Business Bureau was of no help. I disputed the claim to the 3 major credit bureaus in 1999. It was taken off my 3 credit reports, only to "magically" reappear one one last year.

The balance is up near $600.00 now, and 6 weeks ago I filed another dispute to the 3rd law office hired to threaten to sue me. I sent a dispute to the major credit reporting agency (again) 2 weeks ago.

I am trying to buy a house, and can't get pre-qualified till the outcome of the disputes are added to my credit report. Meanwhile, I'm watching my dream homes being sold to someone else for the 3rd time in a week.

CROSS COUNTRY BANK DESERVES TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE NATIONAL HALL OF SHAME!!!!!!!

They destroy dreams for innocent hard working people like myself. They prey on individuals who have just been divorced, laid off,had to file for bankrupcy, etc.

They catch you when you're vulnerable, and trying to get back on your feet financially, by making the offer so easy, so tempting.

The dream of rebuilding ones credit is not one taken lightly by anyone who knows what bad credit means. When someone puts there hand out to offer you a chance, you want to believe it's for real. Then when you give them your trust, they pull the rug out from under you, and they are laughing all the way to the bank as you, an innocent victim, scramble to come up with the money to pay for the unauthorized charges they fraudulently added to your account.

Cross Country Bank is no different than a carjacker, except that they use paper instead of a gun, and they steal your money/and or credit score instead of a car. And they've gotten away with it far too long.

We innocent victims deserve our good credit, damages for pain and suffering, any monies owed to us, and to see the President, Vice President, and all the other brown nosers at Cross Country Banks Headquarters to spend 10-15 in a Federal Prison so they can really know what it feels like to be "SCREWED UP THE BUTT!!!"

We've been screwed, and they should be too!!!
