Hello to all!

Please be warned about Cruise America RV rental. We do hope and pray that we are the only ones who's precious vacation were ruined due to the service and horrible conditions of the 30 foot RV that we rented.

When we picked up the RV we were very excited to begin our vacation, and unfortunately had our rose colored sunglasses on. They were quickly ripper off as soon as our trip began.

We were only about 100 miles from home when I noticed heat pouring out of the floorboard, and asked if it was overheating.  We were not. However, as we moved along, the heat was unbelievable!  I could not even put my sandaled foot on the
floorboard, or the dashboard! That was that first sign that we were in for a LONG ride!

The kids noticed a loud whistling from the back. Well the vent on the roof was cracked, and would not close due to the broken apparatus that closed it. Eventually I had to break the screen, and tape the hood vent down. Well it stayed down, but the wind stilled whistled and finally broke a large piece of the plastic away and the whistling stopped. That only took around 6 hours! We were glad to be rid of the whistling, however now there was a 3 by 8 inch hole in the roof directly above the bed!

Well, we also realized that we were needed to stop and fill up far more than we thought that we should. We were told that we were going to get 8 to 10 miles per gallon; it was more like 4 to 6 MPG. Financially, this set us back pretty far! We spent over $300 over our budget (based on highest gas prices, and 8 mpg) just getting to our destination!

Then there was the bed/table set up. What a joke! There was no support for the middle to sit on, so it was great if you like to sleep in a small wooden box!  It was broken, or at the least it was a painful and unsafe place to sleep, even for a child.

Then there a lot of other things that were broken, like the hood vent above the stove. It made a loud clunk, and then nothing. The patio light did not work. The little doors around the unit to hold the hoses, and the storage were not efficient in that
they kept coming opened, and they were difficult to close, and the main entry door kept locking us out because the lock was too loose. Some of the other issues were no hose to hook up the water upon arrival at the camp ground; the doors were the unit was just dirty, as in cigarette butts under the passengers side seat, and filth marks where water had leaked in!

We were in 100 degree heat, and the air did work in theory; however upon entry of the unit, the only way to tell that it was on, was the extremely LOUD operation of the thing. We like the hot weather, but we like to feel the cool air when we come in too. It was only around 10 to 15 cooler in the RV than it was outside and we were in the shade!

The generator was 3.00 an hour to run! So with the heat pouring out of the unit, and the 3.00 an hour cost to run any electrical including the air conditioner, it was a nightwear!

These were just the things that came to mind as I am writing, but there were more.

We planned on keeping the RV for 2 weeks, but could not imagine spending any more time in this tin can! we brought it back after 5 days, and 2 of those were travel.

We are in the process of arbitration. We are asking for a portion of our money back; only $750.00 out of the $2674 that we spent on the unit.

Thank you for reading our account. We sure hope that you have a better vacation than we did !

John & Amy
