I haven't received the postcards other posts have referenced, but I do receive 3-4 phone calls per week from an auto-dialer that tell me, "This is the second notice that the warranty on your vehicle is about to expire"... "Don't drive your vehicle without a warranty"... "This is your final notice before we close your file" etc. (I'm surprised I haven't memorized the entire recording after hearing it so many times.)

So, How do I know this is so OBVIOUSLY a rip-off as my title states?
1) I'm only 5 years into the 10 year dealer warranty and 3 months into the 8 year warranty on my new one.
2) It's an autodialer with a recorded message. Really, does any legitimate company still use those?
3) The calls come to my work cell phone. I'm not sure how they got this number, but even the legitimate warranty company (the dealership) doesn't have this number
4) The recording instructs me to "Press 2 to be removed from our list". Can anyone guess how well pressing 2 works to stop the calls?
5) The caller ID shows different numbers from all over the country each time I get a call. I've reverse searched a few on whitepages.com and have to wonder, who is K W Richardson in Bedford, NH and who are the other random people listed for the other numbers?
6) Of course when you call the numbers appearing on caller ID they go to a fast busy signal.

These are just the first signs that this is a scam. I got annoyed one day and pressed 1 to speak with a representative. I asked the rep's name and got something similar in frequency to Bob Smith. I explained that I had requested many times to be removed from their list and asked to speak with his supervisor to get it resolved. The rep said he was the only one there (although I could hear the massive call center in the background) and didn't have a supervisor. I asked if the company had a website and he said he didn't know it but I could Google it. I asked once more to speak with his boss and he hung up on me.

After that call, I still had no idea what the name of the company was. I decided the next time I could answer the call I would take another approach. Today I got a call from 603-488-5038, heard the recording and pressed 1 again. This time I pretended to be interested and gave them a fake last name to see if the rep tried to correct me (they did not which makes me happy to assume they don't have my name). He took my vehicle information and transferred me to Jesse who impressively calls himself a Senior Warranty Specialist and finally gave me the name of the company! I told him I was interested but would like to do more research and call him back. I confirmed twice that I could reach him by calling the number on my caller ID and read the number to him both times. He said yes, he could be reached at that number. I asked if they were listed with the BBB and he said yes, but when I asked which city or jurisdiction he hung up on me.

In the end, I just hope people who view this can see the lies put forth by this company and don't get scammed out of money like other people who have posted complaints.
LIE #1 - The company's website says, "Dealer Warranty Services does not use or condone the use of automated dialers/ call blasters, nor does Dealer Warranty Services make outbound calls for the purposes of Solicitation." That's pretty funny! Maybe the good Dealer Warranty Services has an evil twin they don't know about.
LIE #2 - In another complaint the Employee states in a rebuttal, "Considering there is not currently, nor has there ever been ANY sort of litigation or lawsuit brought on our company, then the original complaint is still not valid." I suggest you view the BBB site listing for the company in MO which got to the point of listing the following Government Action, "On March 6, 2008, the Missouri Attorney General filed suit in St. Charles County Circuit Court against Dealer Warranty Services of St. Charles for using misleading notification letters to pressure, confuse and intimidate consumers into purchasing motor vehicle extended service contracts they did not need. The Attorney General claimed the company misrepresented to consumers the cost of purchasing the motor vehicle extended service contracts and debited their bank accounts without authorization. The suit is pending." I realize this is dated after the Employee rebuttal on the other complaint, but I strongly doubt a suit filed by the Attorney General is the first one ever filed.
LIE #3 - The ENTIRE premise of the company!

Glad to share my fun experience. Thanks for reading! lol

Buying Tips
12 Questions to Ask When Buying an Extended warranty
What types of coverage's do you have available?
Always ask for a explanation of the types of coverage's the company has available to ensure you are not buying more than you need or are being oversold when you may be covered already from your car manufacturer.

Can I see a copy of the contract I will be signing?
Always ask to see a copy of the contract you will sign. READ the fine print. This may indicate what the company is actually responsible for and what liabilities you may have.
What insurance company backs your policies if so?-you will always want to do business with a company that is backed by a major insurance company not a RRG, or risk retention group. The insurance company will pay your claims in case the warranty company goes out of business. This is more important than people realize.
Can I go to any repair shops or only to participating ones?
You will want to choose a company that allows you to go to your local dealership or any repair shop for that matter. Just think what problems you might have if you were locked in to certain shops only and you were away from home.
Will you reimburse my repairs or pay the repair shop of my choice directly?
This goes without saying. Pick a warranty that will pay directly to the repair shop rather than reimburse you. The whole reason you bought the warranty was in case you didn't have money for repairs anyway, right?
Who can I contact in case of a problem with this company?
Just ask directly to the dealer that is selling the warranty for the contract service provider all the phone numbers for the company, just in case! Because after the dealer sells the warranty, whether it is online, over the phone, or at a dealership, no one wants to really be the one dealing with any customer problems or complaints after the sale! Go figure...

Can I cancel my contract? Will I get all my money back upon cancellation, or just a portion of it?
Most companies will give you a portion of your money back. However you might get luck and pick one that will refund you all of your money if you haven't used the policy.

Are there any maintenance requirements?
Some companies will try to get off the hook for repairs if you don't have records of your regular maintenance. Just pick a company that will not do this.

What's the deductible?
There is always a deductible unless you paid extra for a $0 deductible.

Is there a waiting period for the contract to kick in?
If you bought the warranty at a dealership, there may be no waiting period; usually most companies selling warranties online or over the phone will have one to mitigate fraud.
Stated component' This type of warranty simply states all of the components that it will cover on the contract. Whatever components are stated that the contract covers, that is what will be covered, nothing else. This warranty is cheaper than the exclusionary and covers most parts without the premium for the bumper to bumper' type cove
Is the company licensed in the state to do business as a warranty service provider or administrator?
This is a BIG ONE. Make sure the warranty company is LICENSED to sell in that state.
Does the same company that is providing the service contract administer the policy or is it outsourced to another company?
It's better to pick a company that administers its own policies. So if you have a problem, you are talking to the service provider themselves. Not another company that does its administration only, that will tell you on the phone: I'm sorry, we are only the 3rd party administrator and we can't help you But you have only their phone number.
