I have been on time with my payments to Discover CC. I have requested numerous times if my APR can be lowered since I am a good customer, and I ALWAYS hear "we are unable to lower your APR at this time." The reason being?! Who knows?! It isn't because I pay late, because I don't. I haven't missed a payment.

They keep it high because they can. I haven't used this CC since the beginning of the year. How are we supposed to be able to pay off balances when the APR charge is nearly as much as your monthly payment, which is over $200 a month?!

My monthly payment has been around $224, and the total in interest fees they take is approx $168!! I'm shelling out to these people over $200 a month and only a quarter of that...$56... is even touching my balance. All I'm asking is for a lower APR so my family has a chance to pay this debt off as I'm making faithful payments monthly. I think this is thievery and it should be stopped.

I am not seeking to get out of paying, I'm seeking a lower APR so I can actually pay them the debt I've created.

Why?  Because the right thing to do!  Do not proceed to inform me that other CC companies do not do this.  When you pay on time, etc., many times they will lower their APR...not because they have to, because they do to help.  Shame on you for not wanting to help.  Since I've written this, the company has come down 4%.  Doesn't help a lot, but every little bit helps.
While I appreciate the knowledge you have of all of my finances...are you also aware of the cancer my family has had to endure not once, but twice within the past 7 years?  Do you think money comes pouring in at every angle?  You really should not presume to know the facts of other's lives.
How about this, how about trying to help your customers instead of assuming you know their lives and show a little appreciation for the fact that 1. They had on time payments and 2. They weren't filing bankruptcy to get out of all of their debt....instead TRYING TO PAY YOU BACK?!

That is what is wrong with this country...nobody is ever willing to help another person out.  I'm thankful for the other Rep that did reach out, and did lower the APR a small percentage.  You clearly are not that person.  You have yourself a Merry Christmas, I'm certain you will since you must be made of gold.

When you signed up for their credit card you agreed to their Interest Rate and that you would make at least the minimum payment required. So why after you charged up the card, and doing what you are supposed to do in making your payments, do you think they are under some obligation to change this agreement?

Sure it would be great if they did, but they are under no obligation to. It is not a RipOff if they don't. You would also be hard pressed to find any credit card that would lower their rate just by asking. In fact interest rates generally only go one direction..UP. But again this is what you agreed to.  Now, if you can give them a compelling reason to such as you already have a better offer, or some other reason that would cause them to lose you.  They may be more willing, but still not guaranteed.

Now, I am going to hit you with a bit of reality. The only reason you are having to make the payments you do is because you charged up the cards to the balances you did. Without knowing the exact APR, but with your minimum payment you probably have a balance somewhere around $10,000. So this isn't something you are going to pay off overnight, it is going to take time..and a lot of time. So if you want to pay down this debt faster, remember that the $224 they require is the MINIMUM payment. You can pay more. Even adding $25/month, while it doesn't seem like much now will begin to make a big dent in the balance. Because every dollar extra you pay now, is one less dollar they charge interest on. Now, if you can't put any more a month toward the card, I am sorry to say that you probably have other financial issues that you need to take care of and should start to take a serious look at your finances before you get to a point that even making this minimum payment is impossible.
