I started as a Dish Network customer purchasing only television services.  Being that I live in a rural midwest town, good internet connections are scarce.  One night while watching television, I saw the advertisement for DishNet internet, allowing me to save money by bundling the services.

This was the biggest mistake ever.  A Dish installer came out and did everything up to par.  Before the first week of internet service was over, I noticed our internet was extremely slow.  At this time I made my initial phone contact with Dish in regards to my service.  They stated, "You have reached your maximum allowance for data usage."  I initially started off on the 10gb internet package through DishNet.

This was their first lie.  I monitor my usage through my cell phone's data plan like a hawk.  I pay for 4gb of data a month through Verizon, with two cellular devices being used constantly(my cell phone doubles as my work phone), I can barely use 2gb a month.  With only having two cell phones connected to my Dish internet using WiFi, using minimum of 5gb a week is an obsurd statement.

DishNet customer service recommended I up my data plan, having no other option, I agreed.  Paying more money now, I feel I should have an exceptional amount of data available to last through a full billing cycle.  Wrong.  After 2-3 day they claimed that I used another 5gb of data.  One thing to keep in mind, half of this time nobody was at our home.  We have a wireless router with encrypted protection, making it near impossible for somebody to be stealing our internet services.

After this phone call to DishNet customer service, they somehow talked me into purchasing an additional 1gb of data usage.  Proving myself to be ignorant and believe the horse and pony show they spill over the phone, by the end of the night the data was once again reached.  This was another instance of us not even using any internet connected device.

This being said, I began to shop for a new internet provider(all of this happened within less than a month period).  I found a local internet provider company that is superb and exceptional.  Costing $30.00 less a month, I have reliable and fast internet also having uncapped data usage.  At this time, I contacted DishNet and once again explained the situation.  I requested and attempted to achieve a solution where to cancel the internet service only, keep the television service of course, and continue on.  DishNet refused to cancel any service without charging me an obsurd cancellation fee of over $400.00.  They said I am under a two year contract, where apparently I am to be stuck with non-functioning internet service.  I reviewed my contract, the DishNet installer had my fiance sign my name(I was at work during install), this technically makes my contract voided.

After argument, I ended up deciding to drop my DishNet internet to the lowest package and paying the lowest fee possible just to end the contracted months.  At this time, I disconnected all DishNet equipment and sat it in a box out of sight and mind, leaving it to collect dust.  Approximately one and a half months later(01/13/14), out of curiosity I logged onto my MyDish.com account.  I checked my broadband part of my account and miraculously DishNet claimed For the current billing period(almost two months after having disconnected all internet receiving equipment from DishNet) my data usage had been reached to the maximum!  I am not sure about others, but even my five month old son is smart enough to figure out that when something is unplugged this is literally impossible.

I contacted DishNet customer service immediately.  Like usual all employees were full of lies and obsurd statements.  The fact that I had ceased all usage of DishNet service and they still claimed that I had used it all proves to myself that in the beginning I was correct.  This proves that DishNet has been scamming myself as a customer from the beginning.  I had paid in a four month period approximately $300.00 for an internet service that I was never properly receiving from the provider.  Making me a victim of a corporate theft.  Dish Network serves approximately 14.1 million consumers.  This makes me wonder how many others are being deliberately scammed and stolen from.

With nobody answering any questions or being helpful whatsoever, I began to request to speak to Joseph Clayton(Dish Network CEO).  DishNet connected me with Oscar Sanchez whom stated he was with the Office of the President.  Once again I explained the entire situation to Oscar.  He became another employee with no answers, only lies and excuses.  I requested that, due to the new found situation, they cancel my internet service and waive all cancellation charges.  They are sticking to their story that nothing has occurred and the cancellation charge is a legally valid charge.  Keep in mind, the contract was made null and void by having my name, not my signature.  They cancelled my internet service, but I am still in argument to remove all cancellation charges.

I called the following day, 01/14/14, and continuously requested to speak with Joseph Clayton.  Finally, I reached another employee in the Office of the President whom stated to me, "Joseph Clayton never takes any phone calls from customers that's why we are here."  This is obsurd.

Dish Network is currently being turned into the Attorney General's office.  As well, I am potentially going to obtain an attorney to protect my consumer rights and correct the fraudulent theft that was committed to myself by Dish Network.

Nobody ever use DishNet internet services.  They will absolutely deliver no satifactory product and steal every ounce of money they can obtain from you.

They have a lot of bad practices

I also was ripped off by the company.  They charge you for the month in advance and then even if you terminate after the term of the contract you will get a partial bill rather than a pro-rated refund.  Their practices are reprehensible.  I think that everyone should call them weekly and act as if they are going to initiate service (I did this morning).  Then ask the sales reps about the policies - pro-rated refunds, dish alignment due to weather, dish movement due to installation in the winter and then service being blocked when the leaves come out.

The sales rep that I talked to answered the questions the way you would like to hear them.  When I refuted her claims and told her that I was just calling to waste her time I was transfered to her supervisor Ryan.  After Ryan answered the questions about alignment differently than the sales person, he told me he could not answer about the pro-rated refund.  He then transfered me to Sunshine, a customer sercvice representative.  After talking to her for a while she wanted to transfer me to an account specialist.  Since I had already achieved my goal of wasting at least 20 minutes of their time I declined.

I figure if I do this on a weekly basis until they remove the $16.05 charge that they have listed as an uncollected debt on my credit report then I will cause them to use up their time and cause them a fraction of the grief that they have caused me.  I think if we can get a hundred people to do the same then it will start to be noticed.  If we can get a thousand people to do this it will start to cause pain.  Perhaps if they feel enough pain they will improve their business practices so they can earn an honest dollar.

I applaud your passion and persistence.  The rep that I talked to in the Presidents office was Andrew Gonzolas.
