I have a small business. I signed up with Dish Network about 4 years ago and registered my company name and address as the user of the service. Now, after 4+ years, I get a call out of the blue by an ignorant Dish Network employee who said she found out that "I" was a business! Further, she said she was going to raise my rates to about double what I had been paying, because I was a business.

I told her that she was correct, the store was getting Dish Network service and that Dish Network was quite well aware that it was a business using the service as the bills came in the business name, to the business address and were paid by a business check. All for more than 4 years.

I told her that I was not going to pay double my monthly rate (going from $33.50 to about $60 per month). I told her that I had an established relationship with Dish Network and they were quite well aware that this was a business. I said that I would switch to cable service before I paid her any higher rates.

She got irate with me, and since she has the ability to cut off the service, she seems to think that she has all the power... her way or the high way! So I hung up and she cut off the service 5 minutes later. Never mind that I was already PRE PAID until the next billing cycle, she just cut off the service.

So I wrote a letter to Charlie Ergen the CEO and gave him a little math lesson. I pay over $400 a year to Dish Network for the service. Over the past 4+ years, I have paid them over $1600.

Prior to his ignorant employee calling me, I had no desire to change TV providers. But now, I will switch to cable. Dish Network will be losing my $400 a year, year after year after year. BAD BUSINESS DECISION by your rude employee, Charlie!

"I" still will get TV service and at most, I will have to do with 'old fashioned' TV reception for a couple of weeks until the cable is hooked up. No big deal for me.

Keep in mind that while this is a business, it is not a bar or hotel or restaurant. Just a small shop with the owners and (1) employee watching the TV between customers.

So people, how about a round of appaluse for the ignorant $8 an hour Dish Network employee who cost her company thousands of $$ of income over the many years to come that my business would have been using their service! YOU GO GIRL!

Another call back from Dish Network! 3-28-06

AUTHOR: Bruce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 28, 2006

A guy named Brian from Dish Network corporate office called me today about a letter I wrote to Charlie Ergen the CEO of Dish Network.

Brian did some research and found out that it was a Dish Network employee who set up the account incorrectly. While the service was registered in a business name and was billed to a business, internally in the Dish Network system it was in a residential catagory. I and my business had done nothing wrong, which was what I was trying to tell Kathleen before she cut off my service.

So, Brian is going to reclassify my account, give me the channels I wanted and bill me the same way I was being billed before before Kathleen got involved. All of the turmoil and problems were caused by Kathleen and her 'my way or the high way' attitude. Hopefully it will all be fixed in the next 24 hours.

I will do another update if things don't work out as Brian says they will. Keep tuned!

Just contact the Attorney General's office in Florida. That is what I did when I had problems with them. They intervened and took care of all my problems with them.

Dish Network called back 3-23-06!

AUTHOR: Bruce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 23, 2006

I got a call this afternoon from Kathleen at Dish Network. She is the one who 'discovered' my business is a..... BUSINESS! Kathleen offered to reinstate my account...at a much higher rate. How nice of her! She still tried to accuse me of lying to Dish Network that I was getting the service to a business instead of a residence. I said only a moron would think that I was in a residence since my account was in a BUSINESS NAME and went to the business address. She then lied to me and said that my 'retailer' must be a fault for setting up the account wrong. That was odd, since I did not have a 'retailer'. I won the equipment at a trade show, installed it myself and called the toll free number to activate my account. All done in the BUSINESS NAME, to the buisiness address.

Kathleen REFUSES to admit that Dish Network employees set up my account and it was Dish Network employees who set the rates and account placement. Not me! I did everything correctly, but Kathleen refuses to admit that Dish Network is at fault.

Kathleen is treating me like a thief. Like I stole something from Dish Network! Up until I got her call last week, I was a happy Dish Network customer. But nobody likes to be accused of stealing, and that is the underlying theme in her contact with me.

Also, when Kathleen cut off my service last week, I was already pre-paid until the next billing cycle. She is refusing to refund to me the unsused portion of my monthly fee.

I have written to Charlie Ergen, the CEO, but as of yet no response. It does not make sense to me. I have paid on time for over 4 years. Now, Dish Network will not get any more money from me and I at worse, will have to watch TV the old fashioned way until the cable is hooked up.

Does Charlie and his company Dish Network really 'win' anything by treating customers like this? I don't think so. Seems like a bad business decision to me.

But then what kind of 'thinking' does one expect from an $8 an hour employee. I suppose that Kathleen really does not care if I continue to be a Dish Network customer or not... she still collects her little pay check every week.
