I signed a contract for 18 months. I gave them a credit card and it's imprinted on the contract.

The contract states that I will be charged up to $1,000.00 if I do not fulfill the 18 month contract.

The start of the contract is dated 8/6/2006. Every single month I had to call them when it was time to pay my bill because they would bill me extra charges.

On April 16, 2007 I got tired of the hassles and cancelled the contract.

In June I received a credit card statement (not the credit card I had given them authorizing payment of the contract) with $100.49 charged.

On 6/18 I talked to Maria in the executive office and explained that they had charged me on a credit card that I had not authorized them to use.

It took some time on the phone with her, but she finally said she would remove the charges. She asked me to mail them back the satellite equipment but I would still get a bill in the amount of $133.33 for cancellation. I told her that would be fine.

I also asked how they had charged it to a different credit card and she told me, "you used this card to pay your bill, we keep the info on file, so when the other card came back as being cancelled we charged it to this one."

Maria also told me, "we will make the charges to whatever account you have used to pay a bill if you don't pay your bills when they are sent."

I told her that was credit card fraud.

In July I received another credit card bill. The bill shows the credit from dish network of the $100.49. It also has 7 new charges on it totaling $124.92. I called my credit card company about the charges and was informed that dish network had also tried to charge $300.00 but it was denied.

Now I have left several messages for Maria on her answering machine and she does not return the calls. I don't dare cancel the credit card to stop it because I paid them several times by check, so they would probably send automatic debits to my checking account which would cause me all kinds of problems.

Somebody needs to stop this company from doing this to people.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

a way to get around the whole billing credit card charges

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 22, 2007

I want to offer a small suggestion if you don't mind. I pay my bills by using a prepaid visa card that you can get at walmart, or a prepaid american express you can pick up at cvs. that way, if an unforseen circumstance comes up and your late on your bill, that can't unexpectionally charge your credit card. if they have a number to a prepaid then when they try to bill it it won't go through. i'm not saying avoid the bill, i'm just saying crap happens and sometimes you have to pay late, who needs them pulling money out for any reason if you plan on paying them. also, i would recommend to your friend this idea. the american express is a set prepaid limit but the walmart prepaid visa you can put any amount you want to on it up to 1,100.00 or another idea is that western union has a prepaid mastercard that comes with your name on it and can be used as an atm card also which is idea for someone who needs a bank account and can't get one. they can use this accoutn as a type of checking account, only difference is you don't get checks, they don't check your credit report and you won't get charged a monthly fee of 4.95 if you put your direct deposit of pay check to it. i use the western union prepaid mastercard to pay my bills. go to (((link redacted)))and click on prepaid services
