In August of 1995 I disconnected my service, I was ask if i wanted to keep my account active so I wouldn't have to pay a reconnect fee. He notified me it cast $5.00 a month. I said no thanks, why would I pay to do that? He then said he could offer that service free, but they would have to keep the last months billing refund as a "deposit" until I reconnect or officially cancel. Well here, it is a year later and I find out that that "free" service was not free after all!!! They used the $39.95, in $5.00 increments to take all my last month billing refund. Then they activated my account off of "hold" and started charging me for service I NEVER received. I called them on 8/10/06, and was told that it was a mistake, and that my account would be cancelled, taken to a zero balance, and that 1 months service would be refunded to the card they had on file. I notified them that I no longer do business with that bank, he said that that is where they would send it, and they bank would have to issue the money to me. This seamed weird, but what was I to do, this transaction is over the phone. This week, low and behold, I start getting harassing phone calls saying I owe Dish Network $65+, I notify them that I already contacted the company last week, and my balance should be zero, and I am suppose to get one month of programming refunded to me. They insist I owe them $ and i hang up. I continue to get calls the entire next day, but I did not answer. This company does not follow through with its statements, is harassing, and is using gray area, if not actually fraudulent business practices. I have notified the FTC, the Arizona CPA, and the BBC. This company needs to be seriously fined by Government so that these practices can be stopped and us consumers cannot be ripped off anymore!!

Pay your bill

AUTHOR: Some - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 16, 2006

It was apparent to me you had a problem paying your bill in the first place. I have had Dish Network for four years and had never experienced anything remotely close to what you are claiming. Businesses are in business to make money, don't pay your bill and they are probably going to do things that you aren't happy with.
