I filling this report on behalf of my mother. It all stated by her filling out a entry blank to win a rasal scooter because she is very diabled with heart diease, she is a diabetic take a shot twice a day, kidney trouble, and nunous other thing wrong with her.. So thinking that if she filed it out she might be lucky enough to win one. She has been looking for someone to help her get one but thinking she might win it would be a very thing being in the shape that she is. When the salesman come out he imeditely went to work with high pressure sale on her She told him that she was on Medicare Medicaid and couldn't pay for it. And he also said that she couldn't walk other than to the bathroom a very few steps and he said well they wont pay for it because you can walk to the bathroom. He never checked to see if the rasal could go through the doorways or even in the house she cant even move it around in the house. As I said before she keep telling this agent Phil Townsend #000268 that there was no way she could pay for the scooter but he would say oh well we'll figure out something but the medicare medicaid wont pay for it. He didn't stop until she gave himm $100.00 and he then filled out the paper work and she was into something that she didn't know what to do now they are sending her a bill for $90.96 a mouth. I called the company when she come down here to stay with me while the insurance gets her house fixed after she has had fire that has destoryed her home and the rascal is in the home soid black with smoke. She can not use it because of this. So when I talked with the company they told me that well she signed this paper work and she has to deal with it because of this I also told them I was going to report them to the better bureau of bussiness and she said go ahed also they were informed of the fire.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

It broke my heart

AUTHOR: Janice - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 15, 2007

I am a former employee of Electric Mobility. I lasted all of two weeks. When I was hired I was told it was a telemarketing job. I had no idea that I would have people crying on the phone because I refused them a scooter. It all begins with the mail in entry for a free scooter. I doubt anyone ever really wins one. These post cards are used as fodder for auto dialer lists to harass elderly and handicapped people who are on fixed incomes and cannot possibly afford one of these scooters.

We had to follow a script that began "we recieved your entry into our contest to win a free rascal"-then we would go into our pitch. We would tell them how wonderful our product is, then we would ask personal health questions-what are you using to ambulate, what health condition do you suffer from, etc, which I though was terrible. I was surprised that anyone would even tell me. They didn't know me. Then we would ask if they owned their home and what their monthly income was-It had to excede $2,000 per month for them to qualify for financing. Again, most of these people are on SSI. One poor lady got so excited and then I had to tell her she didn't qualify. She started crying on the phone and I felt so guilty. This is cruel.

I also got the feeling as I kept seeing the same names in the queue who had said they weren't interested that we were really hounding them. I started putting people on the do not call list so we would stop harassing them. I don't understand how this company stays in business. I don't know how they can sleep at night. Please be warned that they are preying on helpless people who have enough grief in their lives. We were calling people who didn't even need a rascal. I wonder where they got their names from. I couldn't take the heartbreak and dishonesty.

I now work for a home care company who really cares about their clients. Don't enter the drawing for a free scooter-the odds are the same as winning the lottery. Oh, and medicare will not pay either. Not for an indoor scooter-only a powerchair, and you have to practically be paralyzed. Do not patronize this company!
