I attended a training course in New York City on June 6th and 7th, 2009 with this company last year. I registered for the "Dermatology procedures for the primary care practice" workshop from Vancouver, Canada where I live and work, and despite my credit card being debited for this course, when I got there I found that my name was not even on the list of registrants! The next grievance was that the syllabus we were given was not followed at all. On the first day, there was supposed to have been "hands on" training in a few areas, but a couple of them, including "radiofrequency" were omitted. When the trainer was asked about this he stated that the hotel would not allow it. So why was the course booked in such a venue? The training session on the first day ended far earlier than the scheduled time and the topics supposed to have been dealt with from 3.45pm to 6.45pm were done the following morning. On the second day, June 7th, John Ward, the speaker who was supposed to have given the teaching, did not show up, and no explanation was provided for his failure to attend. Dr. Shah, dermatologist gave the talk instead, but it was clear that he was unfamiliar with the slides and repeatedly stated that he had to catch a flight! The session on "marketing strategies" that was supposed to have taken place from 3.25 to 4.55pm that day was completely omitted without any explanation being provided. Dr. Nelligar, who was supposed to have given the talk did not show up! At the end of the course, I was told that I would be mailed a CME certificate which, to this day, has not arrived. Since attending the course, I have sent Empire several emails, none of which have been replied. I eventually made a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission. These charlatans are completely unprofessional and should not be running medical training workshops for MDs. Dr. Cosentino should be stripped of his medical license as all he is doing is defrauding his colleagues! It was by far the worst medical training course I have ever attended.

Our respond to Medicgal

AUTHOR: Empire Medical Training - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2010

When a physician registers late for a program sometimes we may not have their name listed on our sign in sheet at the program. We apologize to this attendee if he was offended.

When we provide a program and the group size is very small, as in the case of the Derm program last February, this gives the instructor the ability and freedom to discuss additional topics, create more of a dialogue with the audience, and respond to requests to emphasize certain topics over others. We have actually expanded our Derm program to include some of these requests routinely into our workshops.

As for the hands on, this is an integral part of our Derm program. It is by no means not allowed by any hotel. We use steaks, pigs feet, and custom models. There would be no reason for any hotel to forbid this. We have been offering this type of training for over 11 years.

As far as this persons comment about John Ward not showing up the second day, he was not supposed to show up. We used Dr. Shah (Dermatologist) for the teaching at that program. Forgive us for not changing the instructors name in your manual. By the way, we currently have about 24 video testimonials from physicians attending our programs, I believe several of them talk about the Derm workshop. Please feel free to look them over.

Just go to EmpireMedicalTraining.com/reviews to see them. We just started taping physicians as they attend our programs to give people objective opinions who are truly looking for honest evaluations of our programs. We will continue to provide this.
