On June 17th I had inquired about renting a full-size pickup truck from this Enterprise location at 728 N 13th St in Allentown PA. I originally talked to Rachel Riccardo who is the Assistant Manager at the store. She was very helpful and explained all my options and costs. I decided on a 2010 Dodge Ram, I did not need the vehicle until Sunday the 20th however the location is closed Sundays, so I had decided to pick it up prior to the 12:00pm closing time on Saturday the 19th. I came in Friday the 19th in the afternoon to finalize paperwork so that all I would have to do come Saturday is get the keys and leave. I was met with Bradley Knecht who is the Branch Manager. My interraction with Rachel was very pleasant, she did not try to push any extra options or insurances. When I started to speak with Bradley he immediately started talking about the $100+ optional insurance package which I started to refuse but he put it on my card and said if I don't want it to cancel it Saturday when I picked the truck up.

We walked outside and did a very brief walk around of the truck to check for dents. This was the first time I have ever rented a car so I was paying pretty close attention to the interaction. We walked around the outside only, opened the driver door, took a glance inside and then proceeded to have friendly conversation outside about business and other things.  Bradley NEVER climbed up on the vehicle to check the roof and I had no idea what is protocol and what isn't because as I stated, I have never rented a car before.  This was all new to me.  Am I supposed to check the oil level and the transmission fluid and everything?  Anyway, Bradley had given me the keys and said I could take it that night, I said I really don't need it until Sunday plus I was also working across the street and had to get back to my store. Saturday morning when I went in to pick the truck up I mentioned to a sales rep that I did not want the optional insurance and it was removed. I have a commercial drivers license and am a very safe driver with a clean driving history so I do not need any insurance to cover any careless mistakes on my part.

The rep there removed it and I took delivery of the truck. I departed Allentown PA on June 21st at 2:30am. We travelled straight through to the eastern coast of North Carolina. We returned on June 24th at 5:00pm. Our whole trip the weather was very very warm with temperatures never dropping below 90 degrees during the day, and not once even during the night time hours had it rained one drop of rain on us. The reason I am mentioning this is because upon my return to Enterprise Friday afternoon I was met with a representative who said they were going to check the truck in. I made sure I took very good care of the truck as if it was my own, I had even vacuumed and washed it prior to returning it even though I know they do it, I just felt that since I manage the neighboring business and being a good neighbor I would cut down on some of the work they would have to do. The representative came back in and said the fuel level is good and mentioned HAIL damage.

My intial reaction was a slight chuckle as I thought he was joking with me. It turns out he was serious. HAIL.  Sadly I think it's a matter of carelessness and the refusal of the Branch Manager to be an honest person.  I am so frustrated over this I have no idea where to turn.  I have contacted the BBB, executives with Penrac, local media outlets, news stations, neighboring businesses, etc.  I tried to speak with some representatives within the damage recovery unit.  I ended up with a Supervisor who basically told me well you signed the contract you were responsible for the condition of the truck, and basically haha screw you we were irresponsible and now you are stuck with the tab.  Now today I received a bill from them stating I owe $1278.xx!!!!  I will absolutely not stop my pursuit of getting out how dishonest this company has been it's absolutely shameful.  Now it's going to affect my credit.  Please contact me if you want anymore information about this.  My email is (((email redacted)))

I read about this in aarp magazine, this has happened before by the same company. The way to protect yourself next time is to take a digital camera with you and take very clear pictures of every part of the vehicle. Outside and inside. Also by one those little hand held recorders that look like cell phones and record all conversations. Sorry you went through this. Go to aarp dot com slash on your side and read about this and other ripoffs.
