Due to repair to my vehicle, my insurance company sent me to Enterprise for a car rental (rental ticket number: 223087. I picked up my rental vehicle (Hyun Sona) on 11/4/12 (after hurricane Sandy) from Enterprise location:  22 Hempstead Turnpike, Farmingdale, New York (516 753-3131) and returned on 11/30/12 to Enterprise location:  12 W. 48th St., New York, New York  10036 (212 730-6151).

Upon returning my vehicle, the manager noted subtle hail damage to the paint on the roof of the vehicle (not at all noticeable from the pictures taken). The Enterprise agent clearly noted in the damage report hail damage. The agent stated that since there was no hail storm during my rental period; he agreed that damages were pre-existing and I would not be held liable. The car had Florida license plates and was driven to New York at some time (?hail storm).

I later received a letter from Damage recovery unit and follow-up e-mail seeking $923.60 in damages.

It is fraudulent to makes false damage claim without supporting evidence (forecast hail storm during rental period). Researching this further, there are numerous reports of Enterprise and false damage claims (ripoffreport.com, 25 pages). Reports have stated that allocated damages are commonly very close to the deductible amount:  either $500 or $1000 dollars suspicious for a scam.

I returned the rental car in the same condition in which I received it. There was no hail storm in New York City during my entire rental period (November, 2012). I will not honor and pay this fraudulent false damage claim.
