I just read numerous reports regarding Epic Sound Systems. I looked them up because two guys in a truck wanting to sell me a surround sound system that were "accidentally overloaded into their bosses pickup". It was sell them quick or their boss was going to get them and put them back in stock.
Normally, I'm a sucker for a good deal but something didn't seem right. They just finished an install but had no tool boxes in their truck. They didn't look like they had just been working. No sweat, no sheetrock dust , no indicators of any kind of effort. I passed on the deal.
Two blocks later I pulled over and looked up "Epic Sound Systems" on the web and got these ripoff reports. I was relieved and happy I trusted my instincts.

Yeah that scam is as old as Moses. Been going on for years and years all over the country, and they ALWAYS tell you the same story..it's a script basically.
You had good instincts fortunately..but many don't.
If you are going to buy something out of the back of a truck from "some guys" in a parking lot..you pretty much will get what you deserve..which is either a system worth under $100.00 (which happened to my ex roommate because he is a big dope)..or worse as many have reported..a box of rocks or sand that they put in to make the box feel "heavy".
Common sense should tell you 2 things...1) where do you take it to return if it doesn't work or stops working in 3 days?..and 2) if it was really worth anything...why would they be trying to unload them for pennies on the dollar in a parking lot?
