I saw an ad on FaceBook for two anti-aging products that were offering a free sample if you paid postage for each one.  The name of the product that I have an issue with is Equinox.  I noticed in the ad that if you did not call within a certain amount of time that you would be charged $74.99 per month.  Below are the terms of the trial:

If you find that the product is not right for you, simply call our Customer Service Center at 1-877-316-1856 or send an email to customerservice@equinoxdna.com to cancel before the end of your 14-day trial period and you will not be charged anything else. Your 14-day trial period begins once the product is delivered. If you do not receive  your free trial bottle within five (5) days of ordering, please contact our Customer Service Center or by email at customerservice@equinoxdna.com. Upon cancellation, you do need to return the unused portion."

I found this after the charge of $99 was placed on my account before the trial period was up.  Here is the timeline of how my order went.  CC charge hit my account on April 15th, I received the product on April 18th.  14 days from the date I started the trial on date of receipt of April 18th would be May 1st.  My credit card was charged on April 27th as a pending charge. 

I DID try to contact them prior to the charge but since they did not send me an email confirmation with the details of where I called to cancel, I had to research it in the Ad I replied to.  I called the 1st time on Friday, April 26th.  There was a voice mail that stated they were closed.  It was around 8:00 pm CST when I called, so I thought I'll just call back tomorrow and be in plenty of time to cancel.  I called again on Saturday morning, and an asian man said I had the wrong number the they had complained that the ads had the wrong number in them but nothing had been done.  I wasn't too sure I believed him but I had no proof otherwise.  I then decided I would check my cc account to see if there had been any activity. 

Of course there was a BIG FAT charge in the amount of $99 pending.  I got the number off of the cc charge and called it. They did not answer the call again.  So I made a note to call very early on Monday morning before I went to work.  I called early on Monday, April 29th and a very rude asian woman said I had not called within the trial period and that she would not give me an RMA so I could return the product.  She did cancel for me but refused to reverse the charge of $99.  Needless-to-say, I am angry.  These people have bogus phone numbers all over the internet, and plan their transactions so they draft your account way before you've had a 14 day trial period.  Their own statement above states that the trial period begins after you receive the product.

My next move is to contact my bank and dispute the charge, and hope they will see this for the fraud that it is.  I hate to admit this but I should have known that it was a scam because my card was flagged as a possible fraudelant charge after I placed this order.  I called the bank to let them know I had placed the order but I was concerned and wanted to know if this company had a lot of complaints.  They told me NO!!  Next time this happens I'll pay more attention to the funny feeling in my spirit.  When will I learn??
