More than once perhaps over several years ESURANCE CALIFORNIA deducted premiums using my credit card without and in defiance of my verbal authorizations.  The last two times were August 2017 and February 2018.  I was able to stop and reverse the February charge but not the August one.  I confronted an Esuarance executive about this fraud and she preferred that I write a letter to the California Department of Insurance and the California Attorney General.  She never responded to my verbal complaint after her investigation.  My suspicion is that Deep Insuarance fraud is going on with numerous insurees or former insureds across the state.  An honorable company would choose to right their wrongful actions.  They are either sociopaths or psychopaths.

My theory....

AUTHOR: John - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, November 25, 2018

Setting aside the difficulty of taking seriously anyone who would call an Insurance company that accidentally (?) overbilled a customer "a sociopath or a psychopath" (seriously, hyperbole much?) I suspect that what this is all about is that the customer either signed up for other insurance and failed to cancel the previous policy, or (and I think this is more likely) got insurance to fulfill state requirements, then cancelled it, figuring he could just show his no-longer-active insurance card to a police officer if he ever got pulled over.

Or maybe Robert is just correct- the author of this post simply doesn't pay attention to what is going on with his account.  There's that "maybe" in the post along with the "over several years" even though the first date is August 2017, which by nobody's calendar is "several years" ago.

I see your problem

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

More than once perhaps over several years ESURANCE CALIFORNIA deducted premiums using my credit card without and in defiance of my verbal authorizations.

Do you see the problem?

The fact that you apparently have no idea if they have deducted premiums in the past without your authorization is YOUR problem. This tells people that you do not reconcile your accounts. As if you had you would know when they make a withdraw because you would have no record of approving it.  You would then have disputed it then and not come back at a later time wondering how many times they charged you.

Your second issue is that this is insurance. Which means you were being covered for something, probably auto. So do you have inusrance with someone else during this time? If not then were you driving illegally? As every state requires some sort of minimum insurance coverage. The second part to this is that each time they would charge you a premium, they would send you either policy declarations or proof of coverage. What did you do when you received those?

The next issue you have is that is this even an issue? It seems as if they were charging you at 6 month intervals. So your next charge should have happened in August 2018, yet it is now November 2018 and you failed to mention if they charged you. So is this another case that you have no clue about your accounts, or is it a case that when you talked to them in Feburary they took care of the issue and stopped charging you?
